Re: Menstruation!!

Thanks yes please keep in Duaa’s as we all need them.
Ladies who have irregular periods how do they get to know when they’re ovulating?

Re: Menstruation!!

Blossoming , try charting your basal body temperature every day at the same time. Body temperature tells us alot about when we are ovulating .. and round about when the temp rises slightly , you can do an ovulation strip test to see if you really are ovulating … thats how I did it a few times ..

Re: Menstruation!!

Did it work for you?

Re: Menstruation!!

So whats the update?

Re: Menstruation!!

I went to the doctor, she didnt check me, just after hearing my prob, she said, since it happened to you the 5th day, it cant be implantation… She had no answer for my questions like, then if my reports are normal..y did I face that?? She was nil.. seemed to me not a doctor but an ordinary woman I am discussing my problem with, after seeing my reports, she even mentioned that I dont even have PCOS problem (for what I am glad), she said your blood report shows you dont have PCOS problem either… THEY WHY?? I asked, and she had no answer :(… According to implantation, my spotting has stopped on the third day… I will wait for more 5 days and will then have a preg test. My symptoms are as same as it should be if one is preggo!! Still I am neutral!! lets see!! If I get a positive test, id be more than glad, if not, will consult the doctor again!!

Re: Menstruation!!

This is strange. She dint even do an ultrasound?

Re: Menstruation!!

Not at all! When I was saying this line “it started again after 5 days, can it be implantation bleeding?” she straightaway said, NO, it is not, aisay hi ho gaya hoga!! She even didnt bother to read my reports properly, she suggested me the same tests and when I told her, I have taken them already, only then she realised and crossed it from the test-to-be-taken paper!!

Re: Menstruation!!

Re: Menstruation!!

Queen , arnt you in the UK these days? Is this the GP that you have been to?

THe reason why I ask about the GP is because, they dont tend to take things seriously unless you have been to them at least 3-4 times with the same problem .. What I recomend is that you keep track of your cycles and how many days you get them , use some period calculator sites , they are really good ..

Next , go back to the GP again after 3-4 days and say its stressing you out ( thora drama karo ) and tell her you are really worried etc etc .. also tell her that you have been trying to concieve for many years ( you have to exaggerate the years abit , so they will take your seriously )

Then go back to the GP again in a few days and say the same things all over again and tell her you want to be seriously refered to a consultant.

In the meantime you can do your pregnancy test, if positive then ALhumdullillah, if god forbid it comes back as negative , in that case at least you have have a consultant’s appointment in a month and a half’s time ..

When you go to your consultant, can you please ask them to do you a AMH test .. AMH is checking the ovarian reserve ( how much fetility you have left )
I know a good few cases around me now who had a healthy cycle for years and suddenly it all started going wierd , some months they would get period twice a month even .. the cycle either started reducing or became too long .. and they didnt have PCOS or any other issues .. eventually it turned out their egg reserve was coming to an end …

The minute you do your AMH and if the results come , you can then hound your GP to put you in the system for fertility treatment.. that way they will also keep an eye out on any potential issues with Periods and conceiving ..

So yeah these are just the few things that I highly recommend , you do .. or else you are gonna go round and round and round the bush with no results with the GP !

PS : I also doubt that this is implantation bleeding.. it cant come this early on .. unless you are one the .1 % ladies that had a chance ovulation right after your first cycle finished .. but even then for the egg and the sperm to meet and implant , it takes at least a week or so .. So yes do keep your hopes high , but at the same time take this up really seriously with your GP

Re: Menstruation!!

CB, First of all, seriously… I need to Hug you right now… DIL SE… :hugz: Thankyou sooooooo much for such a detailed and concerned reply.

Yeah, I am in UK and What you have told me (about GPs not serious here), is being told to me several times. So I understand the drama part and I am gonna do that!
AMH Test is totally new to me and I am 100% going to ask him to write me an AMH Test. Thanks for the recommendation.
I plan to visit my GP on this Monday and will ask him for some ultrasound for PCOS and AMH Test. My mistake was, I didnt visit the same doctor the second time because my first doctor was a Male and since I was facing the bleeding problem, I felt it would be better to speak to a female doctor but koi faeda nahin hua… I am going to visit the same male doctor on Monday, thats what I have planned, because he seemed to me more sensible and understanding… mujhay blood test se PCOS ke pata chalnay wali baati hazam nahin hui… how can we know through a blood test the one is suffering from PCOS or not!! So I will ask him to write me an ultrasound test and an AMH Test.

Thanks again CB… a kiss on your way

Re: Menstruation!!

Queen , glad to be of help :hugz:

Thing is GP will not write those tests for you .. because these are expensive tests and surgeries dont have the budget for it . Also , these tests come under fertility investigation. Simply focus on being put forward to the consultant. thats what GP’s are supposed to do , the minute they feel its not minor they should then recomend patient to the required consultant.

So push him as hard as you can to put your forward. Once you have the consultant appointment, then you ask them to check for PCOS , AMH etc etc .. They have the budget for it and it all comes under investigation which is something they do on a day to day basis .. Also get your FSH tested .. it changes every month but gives an idea of ones fertility levels as well .

FSH and AMH can be tested through blood test .. I am not too sure about PCOS though …
Khair once you get to the consultant you will be in good hands .. Consultants are usually not that pathetic as the GP’s !

All the best ..

Re: Menstruation!!

hmm, thankyou… you really are very helping to me… My FSH Level has been tested, its perfect

Re: Menstruation!!

Did you take a hpt?

Re: Menstruation!!

Queen, I was going to suggest the same thing to you that Chicken Biryani did. I lived in Canada before marriage, which has a similar health system to UK. I saw 4 different GP’s there because I suspected PCOS. Each of them did full blood work, and one of them even did an ultra sound of my ovaries. Every single one of them said my blood tests were normal and nothing was wrong with me.

Then I moved to the states after getting married. I again saw a GP and she again said everything was normal. Luckily for me, here in USA, I didnt need a referral to go to a Reproductive Endocrinologist RE doctors specialize in PCOS and infertility. I made an appt with her, and at the first appt, she did all my blood work, and even did an ultra sound in her office. Right away she said to me, your ovaries are polycystic (meaning I had numerous cysts on them). Also, when my blood work came back, she told me that I definitely have PCOS based on the results.

GP’s usually dont have all the knowledge needed to diagnose PCOS. Please insist that your GP refer you to a Reproductive Endocrinologist. If the GP tells you that there is nothing wrong with you, tell him/her that you are having menstrual issues, and troubles conceiving, and you would really like to see an RE. You just have to keep insisting until they listen and refer you. Good luck Queen. I hope things work out for you inshAllah.
