I had to retire 3 suits recently because they weared off around the elbow area. It’s maybe because I have bony elbows. Anyways, my suits end up retiring this way even though they are in otherwise good condition. I’ve once tried getting it patched by local chingi folks at the dry cleaners but it doesn’t look good. I’m quite sure there isn’t anything you can do to save the suit, but if you know of something please let me know.
I was watching a commercial over past few days from Value City that has suits on sale at 2 for $99. For what I usually pay for 1 suit at other places, I can get 5 or even 8 suits at this price. I always believe that you get what you pay for, but sometimes it pays to shop smart and get good bargains. What are some of the stores you shop at for suits that are reasonably priced?
April and September (end of August as well) are great months for sales as stores are stocked for the next season. Check your local stores. You can get great deals.

If you are looking to stay under a couple of hundred dollars, you can get something that is of average quality at JC Penney. They have good sales, and a range of qualities. We shop there sometimes for my BIL, as he is very thin ad tall, and you can order just about any size
If you are looking to spend a little more, then Jos Banks has nice suits.
Sky if I recall u r from VA right? Check out 'syms' in arlington, additionally as Luxury Item said sales r the best time to buy suits. Last yr my dad got really nice suits from Macys' for a little over $100.00 on 80% clearance. They were brands like perry ellis, calvin klein, JNY etc. He had purchased them in march during the winter clearance.
If you live near a Sym's, they have name brand/designer suits for reasonable prices..and they also do hemming/tailoring. Other than that, check out big department stores during sales like Macy's, Lord & Taylor....you usually find very good deals. In June they had really cute Liz Claiborne & Perry Ellis suits starting at $99 and quality and style were good too.
Some malls have this shop called Quails, they also have good prices and custom designs. Ooh and check out Burlington Coat Factory as well.
Fraudz - reasonable as in those for mid to lower class simple folks who can afford a complete suit for under ~$400 compared to those who would spend that much on just a blue blazer with a lot of nakhras :~D
No its not Sims sky its SYMS. Do u know where 7 corners is? where arlington ,blvd, wilson blvd, leesburge pike, and God knows what else intersects? Take arlington blvd off of 495 go all the way up crossing loehmans cinema. keep going and right before it hits 7 corners and all that mess u will see SYMS to your left. Its a white corner building. make a left and get on to the service road on the left hand side of arlington blvd that should take u there before u get on the wrong way or just check their website syms.com for the address.
also there is this tailor place in annandale which i pass by very frequently. The y have a deal for $500.00 for 2 custom made suits with two ties, two shirts and 2 socks was it? check them out. take little river turnpike towards annandale from 495 come about a mile and a half and u will see it to your left after the safeway, exxon and this french bakery 'Le matin De Paris', they have a big board so u shouldn;t miss it. If they r any good lemme know too :D
Yeah I know 7 corners...will keep an eye for SYMS sign when I go there.
I love custom tailoring, but I'll pass on thier deal because I already have way too many shirts and ties. Besides I'm looking for bargain places like you and few others have mentioned because if I want a $250 or above suit I already have few places in mind. As long as thier quality is good, I have no problem saving money.
well here youa re saying under $400 in your first post u said u usually pay $200 for a suit. so what is it 200 or 400.
as far as a blazer with nakhras, it will be used often, and is something that I dont want to skimp on, dpending on how long it lasts, it is worth the money.
But hey some would want disposable suits that would fall apart after a few dry cleanings. I come from the school of thought that instead of buying new low qality suits every year or two, u buy high quality suits that will look good, fit well and last year after year.
I understand all about the quality business in suits.
Since I've never been to these discount stores, I wanted to visit them and see how they stack up against more expensive places. My point is that if the same quality suit is available for a lot less elsewhere, then why pay more than you have to.
Fraudz - Did you decide to buy the blazer I recommended at Nordstrom?
