Men working at childcare centres/creche

Would you have an issue with men working at the childcare centre your child attends?

The one my daughter goes to, the only man there (now) is the chef.. other than that there were two youngish males who i dont see there anymore. Apparently, the males arent allowed to change any kids nappy, be it male or female..

how do u feel about it? As a guy do you feel its discrimination or do you think its the right thing to do?

Re: Men working at childcare centres/creche

Never thought of that. In fact come to think of it, all the daycares I've visited only had female staff with the exception of some office workers. Maybe it is not discrimination and just that guys don't feel comfortable doing this?

Re: Men working at childcare centres/creche

hmm we've seen two guys at the centre who are not there anymore.. maybe moved onto better things. I dunno...

With the discrimination.. i was referring to the nappy change business. Like the guys can do anything else except for that. Would they find this offensive? Do men find this discrimination against themselves?

Re: Men working at childcare centres/creche

Hmm, let’s see what the men say :hmmm:

Re: Men working at childcare centres/creche

I would not be okay with a male teacher in a childcare environment.

Discrimination…er…yes…same reason you dont see a whole lot of women firemen …I mean firewoman around:cb:
Some things are just better if a certain sex does it…there may be cultural and physical differences(like women cannot carry a 200 lbs guy from a burning building..etc…maybe they can now:D)

Re: Men working at childcare centres/creche

what about male teachers in primary school? I think i had 3 male teachers whilst in Primary... and I remember all of them being awesome. I cant even remember one female teacher! lol

hahha....ohkaay:D...I know what you mean. Actually I don't remember my primary school male teacher most probably because they were sooo old

My kids go to a school where only the Vice Principal ad gym teachers are guys.

Re: Men working at childcare centres/creche

I think its the right thing to do, i would not put my child in a daycare that has the male staff or where the males change nappies. Why wud a male take up a job that wud require changing nappies. Thats not a job a man wud normally like to do.

Re: Men working at childcare centres/creche

Childcare is not a man's job. Man can possibly assist (alright, i said it) but not manage. Some things are meant for men to do and some for women - I like Ask's fireman example above.

Both sexes need to get their heads straight and do what they are naturally programmed to do. Just to add, not to stir it up, 'businesswoman' is not even a word - its a new derivation from the *original *word "businessman". Well, that might not be relevant here, but I felt the need to *share *that.

All men are perverts. keep them away from me.
