Men & their Health/Personal Care

My blog yesterday brought about the discussion that men, especially desi men do not take good care of their health and personal appearance in terms of fitness, grooming regimens, etc.

So, gentlemen of GS, tell us how you take care of yourself. If you have special conditions, do you take precautions; if you have skin problems, do you see a dematologist; if your hands and feet look worn out, do you get a manicure/pedicure; ever had facials; do you believe in facials and massages; do you take care of your diet; do you believe you need to spend time on yourself to look and feel good?

Ladies, you may speak on behalf of your men.

Let’s begin…

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

I go to gym 2/3 times a week. Do jogging whenever I feel like it, more when I have a competition, and go to a martial arts once a week.

I do not go for facials or manicures or what have you. Did get a back massage once or twice.

Eat pretty much anything, however when I go for my martial arts class I try to be well hydrated and have a high carbo. meal.

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

This world is all about presentation. People look at the package first and then the product...

No matter how good of a person you are, if you dont look presentable, you will have hard time excelling in life, be it finding a soul mate, scoring in an interview or just trying to get some good service at a good restaurant ...

I do feel that it is imprtant to take care of the way you look, and begum also keeps reminding me of the importance of that..

I make sure that I dress in a way that I can pull off. I can’t wear baggies with 200 pockets, I don’t have a pierced or tattoo body parts, I don’t have Fabio style hair cut or pony tail ...

point is... I like to appear neat and clean...

I do have my own facial treatment system that has face wash, toner, soothing gel, after shave, moisturizer... I do put an eye cream to take care of any puffiness... I do get facials done once in few months

I take vitamins, drink protein shakes and watch my diet.

When I wear business suits, I keep myself towards conservative side by using white or blue as dress shirt, and dark blue, grey or Black as suit color.

I use cologne and deodorant and mouth spray, hand lotion, lip gel and occasional nail gloss ...

I want to look like my wife's hubby and not her uncle when we go out

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

TLK...so that's the secret, huh? I always wondered how you got "the look." Proud of you for taking care of yourself!

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

eat pretty much every thing but in a moderation.
go to gym 5 times a week, involve in sports like racquet ball and indoor soccer. AVOID STRESS AND TENSION as much as i can. No mani, padi and facial thingy.

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

I'm going to answer for my hubz here....he ALWAYS smells SO good and SO clean. He showers daily with good clean, man-smelling soap. He doesnt use tons of cologne (actually, he rarely uses that stuff) and he always brushes and cleans his teeth well. I have NEVER experienced him smelling anything other than that heavenly man-smell.

Something I've noticed about some guys is that they can over-use lotions and fragrance - both on their bods and in their mouth. One plane trip to pak, I was stuck next to a guy who kept stuffing these leaves into his mouth and then talking to me, I was SO close to puking the whole trip. It was awful.

Overdoing it is every bit as bad as under-doing it. I actually think I'd rather sit next to an unshowered person than an over-perfumed one.

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

TLK wow bro just wow. let us know the products you use

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

hey guys....ok if you want to go get facials and use lotions, potions and creams but PLEEz....when you get manicures with that glossy clear polish, it just looks SOOOOO unmanly!! And PLEEASE also go light on the colognes!!!

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

hubby...

i guess ill let him answer for himself :p

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

only amateurs get glossy clear polish after a manicure
same goes for the ppl who bathe in cologne.

ahhaha the dude was eating paan? ahahahh
oh and please..an overdone person is better than a filthy one anyday..
I would rather have my nose assualted with some amateurs new discovery of Drakkar :D than have my nose mauled by someone's rotting crotch sweat aroma.

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

oh gosh why'd u have to be so graphic, "rotting crotch" EW!!!

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

Shay, he just rubs a nice hand moisturizer into his cuticles as well and over his nails! I’m very particular about the hand looking fresh and humanly, not like the Sahara dessert.

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

^:hehe:

i must say, you have inspired your hubby to follow a great routine that most men are lazy to even think about!

Re: Men & their Health/Personal Care

Men taking care of their health and personal hygiene, watching their diet, working-out on a regular basis, dressing up/hairstyling according to whats in 'n out fashion wise, wearing a nice cologne, polished shoes, showering and brushing (eh ain't it understood????) on daily basis are indeed a well-maintained and decently groomed men in my view.

But men visiting salons to get facial, manicure, or pedicure is simply gay-ish....for them nicely trimmed nails and a shave every morning is enough.... besides, men who decide to do these desperate gayish stuff anyway don't look any different than those who don't.
