Do you see through this behavior? Have you been taken in by this behavior? Is it appealing, or as long as her rump is good, you don’t care about her cattiness?
How do you define cattiness? Do you notice it when girls in your community are messing with other girls to put them down to make themselves look good? Or who are playing tricks on other girls for their own benefit or entertainment?
Or you boys have no clue this stuff happens, because you are such good farishtay?

It's possible that the other girls deserved the catty remarks...that they had been tolerated for a long time and are now being put in their place.
I've noticed a separation of the sexes in many desi gatherings...so it's also possible that the men are not around to witness the exchange of catty comments between women.
I think men do notice rude behavior...I don't think they're completely oblivious to it. Whether or not they do something about will vary from guy to guy. Could be that in a social setting...they feel awkward and embarrassed to intervene. Maybe they fear that their girlfriend/wife will never see their error of their ways and that that it's futile to bring up their cattiness with them.
I guess I would define cattiness as snide remarks....where you take someone's weak point/s and throw it in their face in an insulting manner.
when i was looking and being introduced, I did make note of how the chica treated others around her, even wait staff, because that gave an insight into how she may treat others in her married life too.
^ The same rule is usually said for girls going on dates iwht guys...to see how he treats the people around him, for the same reasons...(at least htats what htey say in the magazines)...
I've noticed that my guy friends will notice the rump or whatever first... BUT eventually everything else surfaces too. They'll hopefully notice the cattiness if they're serious.

Yeah, cosmopolitan I think... notice how a guy behaves with his friends, the waiters, complete strangers, etc.
Ok, so I take it most guys are not really noticing it, or they don't have the opportunity to notice it (segregated gatherings, etc).
Have married men noticed this in their wives? If so, did you do anything about it, or you just kept your mouth shut for your protection?
Hmmm....just thinking. Guys in general would be more likely to notice catty remarks made by their wives toward members of their own immediate family (his parents/siblings). They may be more inclined to do something about it. They may or may not take action if the table are turned and somebody from their family is making the snide remarks to the wife.
But then again....both genders are more aware/defensive of rude behaviors when it involves their loved ones as opposed to unrelated people at a gathering.

Some guys are not smart enough to see the mind games, or just don't want to deal with it. If you referring to manipulation I can see it, I'll give them a chance to correct themselves, if they do it again I'm gone. The most manipulating person I ever knew was my mother, don't hate her but she made it impossible for me to be in her life.
A married man with wife; I think they do recognize it but they get tired of all the crap, stop caring & become detached

I know too many families like that. It's sad. I don't understand how people can live that way. I'd lose my mind having a detached spouse and family members who walk on eggshells to avoid the cattiness.

A better option would be to end the cattiness, keep your mind and use it for other purposes.
^I know right? But if anyone ever hinted to these people that they might want to take a step back and reassess their behavior, heads would roll.
I'm just glad my parents didn't tolerate this nonsense and pounded it into my head that if I didn't have something nice to stay, I should keep my mouth shut. I think 80% of the garbage that ensues because of catty behavior...well, it wouldn't even be an issue if people tried to follow this simple rule.

Because people mistakenly believe that they have the God-given right to be rude, under the guise of being "blunt" and "honest"....ie....
"Ohhooo aap ne mind kar liya...hum toh aap ke dost hain, hum toh pyar se kehte hain!"
"I'm just being honest, you can't tolerate an honest and opinionated person."
Cattiness is not just being blunt and rude. If anything it's the opposite. It's being super sweet to someone's face and then playing games with people behind their back. Backbiting. Spreading rumors. Saying things in a roundabout sweet nasty way to make someone feel bad without directly saying it to their face. All that is the direct opposite of blunt. Give me blunt any day and I know what I'm dealing with. But give me cattiness and it's a riddle trying to figure out what these girls are doing to you.
