why did they feel the need to publish their work under a male pseudonym? were they scared people will not read their books? they will not get famous? or they too like me admitted that men are better writers

women in east were scared of conservative society and therefore used to hide their names behind male / other Pseudonyms. Recently, read famous Sindhi / Urdu drama writer Noor ul Huda Shah’s interview that her mother didn’t accept her as a writer , and whenever her story published in a magazine, her mother used to be upset. This continued for a longer time, when an air hostess met her mother during a journey and respected her for being mother of such a talented writer

I think we discussed about them in thread about Pen names. They want to have Pen names which attract readers. I couldn't get that point, but if here if I found a book written by Farzana jabeen (M.A), I might not give it a try. so it happens.

Hmmm well gender related topics can be best writen by same genders i guess....

here in east we had Ismat Chughtai competing with Saadat Hussain Manto (more than a half century ago) and both had to face court cases on same charges :p
