Men and Jewellry

Ok so gold is Haraam for men because Rasool-Ullah (Sal Allaaho Alayhi Wa Aalihi Wassallam) said so, only women have the right to wear it fine.

I’m not going to argue with Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala) or His Apostle (S).
BUT silver is Halaal for men right? I don’t know of any Qur’ani Ayah or Ahadeeth from the Sunnah forbidding silver for men.

Then why do some Mullah Molvis have issues with me wearing silver chain necklace, ring and bracelet or ear studs?

Sometimes they say it is immitating women and immitating the opposite gender is forbidden, that thinking is flawed, I don’t wear Tikka and Jhumar or Kaanch Ki Churriyan that I’m immitating women, men and womens jewellry is seperate, it’s like me saying wearing shalwar kamiz is immitating women because women also wear it.

Othertimes they say it is immitating Kuffaar, that’s not true because jewellry has nothing to do with their religion, it’s not like I’m wearing a crucifix.

Can someone find a Ayah or Hadith which says men shouldn’t wear jewellry or that metals like platinum and silver are forbidden for men?

Re: Men and Jewellry

nosh, i totally agree with you. how one accessorizes themselves is totally upto the individual. the thinking that molvis present is totally flawed. i had one molvi sahab in toronto tell me that wearing western clothes (jeans/t-shirt) is not the islamic dress, and he was hell bent on trying to prove that kurta shalwar was the islamic dress (which of course he wore all the freakin time thru out the year).

even though it is said that wearing gold is forbidden for men, i have not yet found anything in the quran which states that.
