Yesterday my husband showed his dad’s old transistor radio to my daughter. He was telling her how when he was a kid he wanted to throw it out every night when his dad would turn it on to listen to BBC News! Now that same radio is a valuable treasure from his dad’s life. It’s still in great shape. We also have my mother in law’s nani’s paandaani and a copper ittar box. There are pretty ittar bottles, dry, of course, in there, all neatly lined up.
I have a vry delicate gold necklace, antique style that belonged to my naani amma and my mom gave it to me. My mom treasured that necklace so much, so it means a lot to me. I got it when I got married, but never wear it as im afraid to ruin it. :)

What do you have that is old and passed down?
**THE 1899 HAMILTON POCKET WATCH OF MY DADA (still working and I am allowed to use it by my dad on family weddings only with Sherwani....of my Taya-1940 make)
**
THE SINGER SEWING MACHINE MY DADEE USE TO SEW AT
IN 1950. (Still working)
We have a tin can that my great-great-nani (mom's nani) brought back from Hajj. Its about a foot tall, 5 inches in diameter. The lid pops open very easily and goes back just as easy. In karachi we used it to put chai ki patti in. Then we brought it here with us and now use it to store teabags.
I have my Nani's banarsi sari's.. and they all still smell of her (sandalwood) I have her silver surmah-daani's.. with gems (very pretty!) My grandfathers diaries.. lots of stuff
These gloves are like over 60+ years old.
We have in our family:::
1-fencing sowrds(may be from pre-partition time)
2-Tenis rackets, they are funny looking.
3-snow-walking shows.(like metal clumps which you wear/stripe over niormal shoes)
hmmmm
Its all in pak. I only brought those gloves with me.
If I tell you they are not going to sound that old. Its my Tayea's
But get this, my father had me when he was in his 50s.
And to my tayea my father was a little baby(many many sister inbetween)
So if add every thing up, those gloves could be even older.
the house Dad had bought back where my grandparents lived was this old pre-partition haveli and i remember as a kid going there when dad hadn’t gotten it renovated n i went up to the third floor which was derelict but had this one room with all the walls painted …i think it must have been a pooja room maybe…
and it had those carved huge doors at the entrance …
much later i found out that the ppl who had been told to renovate it had white washed the room…i was soooooooooooooooooooo upset
maybe this time when i got back i’m gonna look things up n find stuff from that era…
Dada's rifles, my abba kept them in the best shape - my favorite is one of those Clint Eastwood style handguns. And some of his tools.
Abba's memories are fresh and all over the house. Allah bless his soul, I dont even keep his photo with me and try not to think about him much, I think I'm not over his death yet. Crazy human behavior!

Your dad has a flair of archives--I must say. Good show!
I have a collection of 42 guns---of which 4 are double-barrel and 2 on-top barrel of my Nana and his brother---as their sons were not interested in 1925-30 makes!! (Stupids:() and I purchased them when I went to college (1967) and i spend a fortune maintaining them. Of the collection.. *I have a PURDY of 1925 and a shotgun of 1945 which was actually used by my Mamoon in World War-II in Burmah. It has been offered a staggering amount--but NO...NO!! Sir.*
