Hi Guppies,
I just wanted to know if any of you have ever visited Memoona Manan for a consultation? It’s just that i’ve never seen their outfits up close and I may be travelling to Lahore, so i’m wondering if they’re worth a visit?

Re: Memoona Manan

Re: Memoona Manan
^ I guees you're right - it's just that my time in Lahore is pretty limited and the choices are endless!
From what I understand, the brother and sister duo currently running their mother's label (memoona manan) are Faraz and Sundas.
Re: Memoona Manan
oh ok my bad...i mistook the mom for the sister :p...well ya u r rite. Let me know what kind of stuff u like and maybe i can guide you which designers which shudnt be missed at any cost :).
Re: Memoona Manan
Maham y dont u start ur own business ... as u r designer ...u will hav enough clients frm Gs .. thts wht u hav advantage over ur competatiors :)
Re: Memoona Manan
I will Inshallah do that once i think i am financially secure for that. Also, before starting up your own business experience is needed which i am getting by doing a related job :).
Re: Memoona Manan

I'm looking for formal wear outfits - I was going to try Nilofer shahid and Karma, but if tehre is anyone else in Lahore you strongly recommend, then please let me know :)
P.S. i'm not going to bother with HSY, so we can exclude him altogether!
Re: Memoona Manan
well when i asked what u wanted i was actually lookin for your taste as in whether u wud want somethin ethnic, contemporary, mix or wateva...
and why not hsy? if its cuz of the price than nilofer shud also be tken off the list though she is one of my fave.

More of ethnic or mix as opposed to contemporary only.
I'm not really sure about HSY - too many stories about assistants with attitudes, late delivery, bad fittings etc. I've also seen some of his outfits at 'The Designers' in Karachi and wasn't really impressed.
^ oh ok..
For ethnic wear, Nilofer shahid is a must. Definately dont miss her she has a very distinct; royal and regale, approach to her ethnic wear. I am not into ethnic motifs but she is the one who makes me fall in love with ethnic stuff.
Other than her, give lajwanti a visit though i think her work was better few years ago but still you may be able to find something nice. The reason i am mentioning her is because she is also into ethnic stuff though with a different touch so you can see if that style of hers appeal to you. It's kinda more chunky, lots of beads.
Karma is good for slight contemporary touch to the ethnic wear. Earlier i thought kami was the main creative person in karma but after he left i actually saw alot of innovative stuff in their brand esp their work with gotta.
The best advice i can give you is to visit the PFDC mall situated @ 10-Q Gulberg 2. There, you will find most designers under one roof :biggthumb.

Re: Memoona Manan
how abt Kamiar Rokni??? really liked Tahira Syed's daughters mehndi suit. As for HSY--not too fond of his lenghas, but I really do like his saris. hmmm not a proper designer--but Zardozi in Liberty (has ads in Asian bride etc) sometimes has really nice outfits--you really have to go several times. His dabka kaam is very neat.....but u really have to search. Ive seen some gorgeous designs by him--unique and not copy-cat at all. hmmm his cloth is really light and soft as well....if you can just get the cloth for other things...
Re: Memoona Manan
Thanks Maham - you're definitely a life saver, especially since I forgot about the PSVD mall! This way if I do visit any of these designers, then i'll make an appointment in advance. Just out fo curiosity, is there any need to make an appointment with Lajwanti or Karma for that matter?
Re: Memoona Manan
Yeah Blushing Rose - that mehndhi suit was pretty cute!

Oh definately yes....you should book an appointment before leaving for lahore so that there is no inconvience and you get quality time from the designer themselves not their staff. And you are most welcome :) Let me know if i can be of any more help.
Ziggy, I met them both in Dubai they wanted to open an outlet here and they are VERY approachable and nice people (faraz & sundas) they will help and suggest the colors, kaam according to body-type etc! DEF go to them.. Maheen's designs arent the same without Kami..so i'd go to his outlet! Fahad Huseyn is another person u shud see and so is Ahsan nazir :)
