Never mind…I understand that your ‘periods’ are conflicting with the above dates as you said in another thread of yours.!!

I liked the info about memons you posted…but still it lacks much in content. I have an awesome literature and prose and poetry on Memons…and ya when I say its awesome…then it is AWWESOMME!! The best part about it is that it also has the transliteration of all the Memoni language stuff.Lemme know if any of you guys are interested to have that.

Boras are Brahmins converted to Islam, mostly Nagar Brahmins. Back in India, there was a sweet Bohra lady in my office, who used to call herself of the Bohra/Anavil Brahmin community.

Bohras are Actually original VOHRAS or Vyovoharis . They are traders , and were converted from Hinduism to Islam.

Ismailis also were converted from Hindus, not sure whether they were Brahmins.

Um yeah, I know bohra families and khoja families too - its not gujrati, but it sure sounds like it.

Kutchi is its own language. Its not gujrati from what I understand, and that is what Khojas speak.

Bhoras have their own bhori tongue. I’ve heard it and its not the same as gujrati either. There’s a lot of sindhi mixed in there.

Kutchi is mix of Gujarati and Sindhi.

Bohras speak mostly Gujarati.

wow, you guys are going really deep into all this. since the question was asked specifically for rishta purposes, i know a bunch of memon families here and they are your typical pakistani families (at least the ones from karachi) except they speak their memon language as well as urdu. as far as faith is concerned, you just find out what they are as you would for any other family.

n borahs r shias.... ! n whtsoever we all r muslimss! we believe in one Allah n testify tht Prophet Muhammed ( PEACE BE UPON HIM) is the last Prophet of Allah!so we all r same :)
