Who else in DC metro area is familiar with this ad on Radio? It’s about this non-profit organization Melwood that helps disabled people to stand up on their feet.
But the Radio station guys have the timing a bit off to play this ad.
Here I’m rushing off to work in the morning (and imagine DC metor traffic!), sipping on my coffee (black and shaken by natural causes), swinging through numerous hundred yield signs around and about Arlington Cemetry, trying to be receptive to whatever else is happening behind (I once got hit in the back just 'cause I didn’t do anything and was at a full stop), and here they play this ad on Radio!
The ad starts off with a sappy story about a girl who broke her leg and became disable and how Melwood helped her regain her life. The whole ad runs with slow sentimental music in the background and then advertisor’s pleading voice to donate your car. That whole thing just “slows” you down. It breaks your heart. It’s too humane and touching and brings a tear or two to your eyes unfortunately at a time when you can’t afford to. I mean, I don’t mind listening to the ad and the music and the sob story when I’m driving back home in the evening, when nerves are slowing shaking off work stress and you’re beginning to relax. Catharsis is good they say. But not in the morning. In the morning you wanna hear something more lively or motivating (like a Jaguar ad may be or Jaguar and diamonds ads for ladies) to start your day off instead of getting in a sappy mood.
Who thinks I’m justified on this one? Or who thinks I’m just a cold-hearted baastard who’s just imperceptive to little girls breaking their legs just 'cause they love moutains (don’t answer this question)? Or who else thinks besides me that I shouldn’t even be listening to the radio?!?!
