Mela Ghoomniyan

Term was used in Bano Qudsia’s novel for women who used to go in melas ‘fairs’ and because of their free mobility their character was always subject to questions. The question was mostly raised by ladies who were considered or who wanted to be treated like Satti Sawitris.

Time changed and women got some freedom in desi society, but still working woman is subject to same taboo.

Whats your opinion on this generalisation for working women?

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

lol. muqa bhai. you post really good thread. :hehe:

I think their mobility is still questionable in our culture.

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

Yes it is, I don't know why but if someone is teacher then she is ok but if someone is nurse people will not like her,
I was shocked when I heard ' ache ghar Ki larkiya air hostess/flight attendant Ki job Nahi karti ' ummm why?
For me i don't care If someone is from a rich family or poor, but if you are working and earning halal money then you are respectable.

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

why is it so? Is our society double faced?

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

ok someone was praising veena malik, I wanted to say him that if you really like her then why not initiate similar opportunities in your home too. but i did not say that to him. :chai:

I dont think, but our society is too conservative for them.

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

Probably the treatment meted by air hostess created such thoughts

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

aise mardoN kaa munDan honaa chaahiye! :D

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

kaise mardon ka? ladies also have same thoughts for working woman

kaise mardon ka? ladies also have same thoughts for working woman
[/QUOTE]

Ghar se bahar orat nikalti hai to ghoorte mard hain orten Nahi.

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

Thats another issue, but ladies also oppose working woman. Don't you agree?

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

Yes they do,
I heard from ladies ' ache ghar Ki larkiya yeh Nahi karrti wo Nahi karti'

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

ladues oppose because they are jealous that they have this freedom to go out on a daily basis, meet handsome men and on top of that [sone pe sohaaga] they make money and spend it on themselves…so, pure jealousy!

mard ghoorte haiN to aurteN palaT ke unko ghoor leN…baat baraabar…is meN itnaa buraa maanne kii kia baat hai? :cb:

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan

You mean relationship between working woman and housewife is of similar to relationship between Saas-Bahoo?

Re: Mela Ghoomniyan
