Is what I think is offensive to the Jewish People.
However, I think one should take into account the political views of the times..and realize that the Sanhedrin though religious were also political entity.
If biblical genealogy is fact and Jesus was descendent of David..would be a threat to the hierarchy of then Jerusalem.
And many Jews followed Jesus teachings. Judism is father to Christianity.
Historically one finds simalarities of Jesus with the Zealots and Essenes, which were Jewish sects I believe.
It was Pontius Pilate that ultimately decided his fate. He was a Roman.
The Passion Movie by Mel Gibson is a political version of the crucification of Jesus.
Just out of curiosity,
what proof do we have to show jesus was ever crucified??? if there is no such proof, how are we justified in blamming jews for something they might have never done.
As far as i know, jesus is a myth. Just like other biblical characters. Bible itself is a most incongruverse book, with loads of contradictions....
To go by that book, and deframe a certain sect as murderers, is foolishness.

Agreed.
But blaming jews is not the idea of the movie.
The movie IMHO is based on biblical study of political views of the times. And probobly with license.....

Now from my standpoint if there are any historical inaccuracies with anyone's point of view, and IMO they are downright ridiculous, i'd give them the biggest stage to make a fool out of themselves cuz everyone would know.. that's not the case with holocaust skeptics.. their voices are muffled, they are declared anti-semites and all powers available are employed to silence them..
with their persistent labelling of everything challenging them as anti semitic, the Jews appear to be more insecure than muslims..

i think gibson should tread softly on tough issues like these.
whereas there are websites from both sides on each others' cases. The event is very old, and does not make a difference in today's day to day life.
I have not seen the movie so can not say how the events are depicted and what the message appears to be, so I will old off my assessment until i do so.
BUt if what I have been reading is true, then I am very disappointed in this irresponsible action by mel gibson.
Underthedome: As far as I know it was Mr. Gibson Senior who don’t believe in the holocaust. Any links to back up that Mel himself also don’t believe that the Holocaust happened?
