The point is that Pakistani film-makers cannot make mega-budget movies until the quality improves and their market expands.
Till that happens, they can still make meaningful cinema for Pakistan and the rest of the world like Iran does.
Isn't Iran also an Islamic Republic? They unlike Pakistan just don't have a conservative culture, they actually have whole load of strict laws that impose extreme censorship yet Iranian films are routinely shortlisted for various European film awards, every now and then their films are featured on Cannes film festival and just recently an Iranian film made it in the Oscar race. Of course Pakistan need no such examples because these are examples of serious, meaningful cinema as TS above me has described.
Well Iran is Islamic Republic but we both don't belongs to Iran, isn't? so there is no use to give an example of any other country to proof pov vs Pakistan. :) btw a delegation from Hollywood visited the Iran's film industry but they didn't welcomed as suppose to and Iran continuously attacks on foreign film industries.
Like a said earlier, due to some internal affairs Film Industry of Pak will not boost.

It's not about belonging to a particular country but using the tactics employed by that country to help improve the state of the cinema industry in Pakistan. The Paksitani industry will never prosper as long as people believe that being a part of the film industry is immoral.

I don’t know what the heck you meant to say there. I think you should be more careful with your choice of words.
But Humaima’s debut movie was supposed to be with Sanjay Dutt which was almost complete.
She also said in Nadia Khan show recently that she won’t do anything to embarrass Pakistanis.
Let’s hope she keeps her word.
She does seem a little wiser than the other women in question.

The trailer is a big let down as it doesn’t make any sense, even one couldn’t find out what genre this movie belongs to. All we learn that it has Humayun Saeed as an over the top hero and Javed Shaikh as a superficial villain. Let’s hope against the hope that they have something better to exhibit in the movie.

The film was also nominated for best writing and original screenplay, which is a rarity for foreign films.
This inspite of all the constant anti-Iran political propaganda in Western press.
So I came across some monetary figures about this Irani film:
The budget was under $1 million.
It made $3 million in Iran.
And made $22 million worldwide.
Quite a profit.
If Pakistan market is small because there are no cinemas left to exhibit movies, they need to start making low-budget movies for the global market like Iran and make film-making a profitable business. Once it is a lucrative business, then the budgets can be increased. But the quality has to improve for people to come out and watch them or to attract global audience.
