Mehndi

Hi.. I want to do something really different/unique for my mehndi.. My family will be going to my fiance’s mehndi and his family will be coming to mine too so I’d really like some ideas for what my family can carry to his and what we can do at mine deco-wise… I have already decided that I will be wearing Yellow with bright pink, and all my cousins and close friends will wear bright pink. The boys will all be wearing black shalwar kameez with yellow and pink dupattas. I want lots and lots of candles, lights and flowers, but wedding is in UK so things like flowers can be really expensive here! I have seen brides enter the mehndi in a doli and think that looks good, but isn’t that a bit wierd as doli is supposed to be for rukhsati when the bride leaves..?? I have also seen pics of using different things for deco such as green and red pasta shells and red chillis.. i think things like that are really great… Any other Pics/Suggestions/Ideas all welcome! Thanks!! ambar xx

Re: Mehndi

where about in uk are from? coz i can give some ones number who decorate halls and stuff for wedding at a very reasonable prices and she also arrange fresh flowers i dont how much she charges but i saw her work and liked it very much i thing i am going to hire her for my sisters wedding (insha Allah) with dances u can do any thinkg do loodi some mix dances with four or more girls and some solos

Re: Mehndi

Getting flower arrangements is quite expensive, I have to agree with you. Instead of going to florists shop who can be quite pricey, try the market traders who sell flowers at stalls. Take some pics of the kind of stuff you want and most of them can duplicate it for around 2 thrids cheaper and some of them deliver too. Or if your quite creative, go to a flower wholesalers and buy the flowers from there, they are so much cheaper, and theyl give u advice about which flowers go nicely togather etc. Then get some oasis from either the same place or try Ebay. You can also make the crosages and garlands yourself if your having any. Alternativly you can go to your local park and steal them. (just kidding, dont steal).

PS. to find a wholesaler, just go to yell.com and type in flower wholesalers and your area.

Re: Mehndi

Pk786 I am based in Scotland, which doesn't make it easy to find things at a decent price for asian weddings! What about plate docoration/hall decoration, any different ideas? What do people think of entering in a doli? My mums not too keen on it as she thinks i should have a doli for the rukksati.. i hate at mehndi's when everyone is holding a dupatta above the dulhan as she walks in - cousins, sisters, friends, everyone wants to grab a corner and it can end up looking really messy, especially if you have a lot of cousins like me!

Re: Mehndi

ur mom is right coz doli is meant for ruksati and while entering you can come in with one of ur brothers (if they listen to u coz my sister came in with two borthers and two cousins and every one else was walking on the side) or ur dad holding their hand u dont need to have a dupatta above ur head if u dont want it and plate decorations you can do that even at home just have some dias (candles) in a nice bowl and have two or three mehndi plates u dont have to have 10 mehndi plates just make it different wit diyas and have some conffetti if u want with decoration i dont about rest of the decorations but can have jhoola (swing) to sit on for ur self and two chairs on the side have the matching cusions on the floor either with ur clothes or with the reast of the hall decoration:D
