my cousin will be getting married in may, iA and i’ve been asked to come up with the design and colour scheme of the mehndi. she is on a budget and doesnt want to spend even more money with professionals.
also, i was thinking of using dupattas and fabrics for the backdrop but i dont know how to actually hang them somewhere
in terms of colour scheme, i was thinking of using red, orange and yellow…
last week we did a dholki for frnd..and we did the whole background by using duppatas in my house...they were all mixed colour....mixed shades..but it looked amazing overall....so just go wid anythign u have at home...pick two colors and get as many shades of those colors u can...and just use thumb pins to pin them on walll
I dont know what is ur cousin budget on mehndi stage , but i think she can take on rent a jhoola for the mehndi. This is very in fashion nowadays.
I dont think it will cost a lot , it will be around 5000 Rs/day if i'm not wrong.
Then u can decorate the jhoola with some flowers garlands and dupatta.
And put a table opposite the jhoola , where u will put mehndi, bangles, some diyas,etc...
As I live abroad, it is what we are going to do for my couzin mehndi. Here u cant find some professionals , so we will do everything on our own.
The mehndi will be on may. If we hav some more ideas , i will tell u.
we had this for 45k. our event was organized by Royale Weddding & Event Planners www.Royale-events.com and all the arrangements were tooo good but it depends that you will be doing function in which city as rates vary city to city but might be some one else offers you high rates or might be less
Try jewel colors with a white backdrop. And when I say white, everything should be white, otherwise it will not give the same look. Get a carpener to make you rectangular panels in the cheapest priced wood (that doesnt break), and tack the fabrics on to the panels in colors like emerald green, ruby red, magenta, orange and topaz (not the typical mehndi yellow) and place them behind the place where the bride sits. its simple yet effective. Also a white, magenta and indigo colored theme is pretty interesting.
Make the bride and groom sit on a small takht (with their legs up), and have a bit of a canopy thing going on top of their takht in organza and have strings of artifical orchids come down the sides.
Another idea is to get different branches off a dead tree and tie them up together and form something like a tree with extended branches. Dye the tree in silver and place it behind the bride’s sitting area. Hang different colors crystals and flowers from it. We did it for my recent fashion show and everyone loved the effect. you can get a bit of an idea from this photo:
They were everywhere, so you had hanging crystals above you wherever you walked.
Last but not least, have a big panel made, cover it in black (or a good base color) and have something like this made:
We actually used everything from the garden and it costed us only the panel.
