What would you wear to a Mehndi party that will have manicure/pedicures and henna painting on site. The card clearly states “casual attire”. But Mehndi’s are the fun part of a wedding. I don’t want to wear jeans because i am sure i will be getting a pedi/mani and having henna applied but at the same time don’t want to ruin my nice dresses either…
how will a mani/pedi/henna mess up your clothes? you can wait for it to dry and have someone tie a plastic bag around your wrists while mehendi is dried when you are ready to change clothes (in case you are worried about the sleeves getting messed up.
you can always find out what the hosts are wearing and dress a notch down accordingly...
a mani/pedi definitely won;t mess up your clothes, about the henna well it barely takes 30 mins for henna to dry up once its applied in these intricate designs. Just make sure its not something u have to keep fixing or setting and ur dupatta doesn't need constant attention and u should be ok. if u have some cotton chunri kinda thing wear that or then jeans with a yellow/green jurta. just roll up the sleeves and pants.
Let me remind you guys...that i am also expecting....so there are a lot of things that i am looking at. A pregnant woman gets uncomfortable in jeans after a few hours atleast i do........
i think its time u got some kurtay style kameez's made for ureself.. not the kurtis u wear with pants.. the long traditional kurtay...
i guess if ure saying jeans arent comfy.. ure only option now is to wear a shalwar kameez... hell im not expecting and can't even wear jeans all the time.. infact even trousers... good ol shalwar me loves!
You could wear a skirt and a blouse/shirt. These days they have all those chunri kind of skirts which will go well with mehndi and will be comfortable to wear with respect to your pregnancy aswell.
or just wear a half sleeves kameez shalwar. Just get your pedi/menicure first and then go for mehndi. Oh by the way just make sure that the smell of mehndi doesn't make you nausietic(spell??)
Oh well, you definitely should not wear jeans. Go for some normal mehndi party shalwar/qameez type clothes. You can still get your mani/pedis and henna in normal clothes. Wear any normal (but a bit fancy) green/yellow clothes
Just wear clothes that you would wear otherwise to a mehndi party, a pedicure/manicure won't ruin your clothes and especially if your shalwar is short sleeved. Even if you have mehndi done on your hands it will have dried by the time the artist has even finished the mehndi. DON'T WEAR JEANS!
I don;t get how u guys are getting pedicures at the mehndi. Are there going to be rows of tubs full of water with women scrubbing everyones feet and filing their nails? Isn't that a mess of its own?
Well the bride's mom has arranged for 4 professionals who will be doing the pedi and mani and 6 women who will be applying the mehndi. I guess they do this at all their weddings. This is going to be the first for me.
Thanks for all the serious and non-serious mashwaras:)
I like the chunri style skirt option. If that does not workout than a semi-formal shalwar kameez will do.
I do have maternity jeans but let me tell you after an hour they too become very very uncomfy.
