Mehndi Outfits

i think its about personal preference...personally i think that the bride should be simple on the mehndi and her natural beauty should be allowed to blossom, 'roop' as they call it...and it also makes the bride stand out as most of the guests are done up. However saying that i think more and more brides are going for the heavy look on the mehndi, or at least in the UK they are. recently ive seen mehndi brides in HEAVY ghararas and makeup plus gold jewelry and bridal hair styles. Therefore on the baraat day they did not impress as much as everyone had seen them dolled up on the mehndi.

you could always jazz your look up with really colourful glass bangles/khusa and flower jewelry. i also saw a bride who wore a large round silver teeka with stones matching her outfit...it looked brill!

Re: mehndi clothes

^ Ditto . I think it's nice to keep the mehndi simple .,. but jazz up ur outfit with unique colours and accessorize with khusas/churiyan/flower jewellry. I would suggest very light makeup just for coverup and for nice pics and then during the shaadi/valima go all out !

Re: mehndi clothes

i thought we are not allow to wear make up and jewerllery on the menhdi day!? maybe it is in the past? my mom, my aunites and female cousins did not wear make up but cover their face by veil so we can;t see their face but they wore transparent duppata so the bride can see thought.
i may do that because i don;t feel comfortable to show my bare face in front of people!
if i found the beautiful duppatta then my plain yellow salwar suit will be no problem as duppata is cover on my head and shoulder.
what do you think?

thans a lot dezire k kuch yellow k sath hara bhara dikhaya .werna orange dekh dekh k mery ankhon main orange motiya uter aya tha…sara jahan orange orange lagny laga tha…nw feeling better…lolz

it depends on the girl and i guess how grand her mendhi function would be. i plan on having very natural make up done frm a salon iA.

Its not that you are "not allowed", just that most people prefer a more simple, fresh look. But I wouldnt suggest going totally barefaced with no makeup at all, especially if you will be taking pictures and if there will be bright lights. I mean you still want to look good, whether there are 15 people or 150 at your mehndi. I think maybe in the past girls often wore absolutely nothing, but now usually girls do at least something, to get a soft nice look and compliment themselves. I mean alot of girls hardly even go to school or work without at least a bit of eyeliner or concealer, so how can they come on their own mehndi with less than that!! Also depends on your outfit, if you are wearing a very fancy heavy jora then it doesnt really suit the look to have a naked face, at least do some soft simple makeup, to complete the look

Re: mehndi outfits

^ I’ve seen a few pics where the bride is wearing a full heavy jora, lots of jewelery/flowers etc..and a bare face. just b/c its a “mehndI”.

haha :P thanks lol pahlay demand ke huti lol

^ yeah, its odd for me too. i had my makeup and hair done and was dressed up and all that too-- i mean, i didn’t pay my photographers so much money to take horrid pictures of me sitting up on stage barefaced, and nor did i spend so much effort on making sure my mehendi decor was nicely done etc to not pay attention to myself! its a function like any other wedding function, and you should be dressed up appropriately. just my two cents, i know people do differently
