Mehndi Outfits

Re: mehndi outfits

^ get one for each! gharara's are soooo graceful.

Re: mehndi outfits

i know, i'm sooo tempted too :). but i want a different look. is there more than one type of gharara?

Re: mehndi outfits

I love the colors/fabrics…but I would make the outfit differently:

  • Turn the shalvar into a lehenga or a gharara
  • Cap sleeves instead of 3/4
  • Open up the neckline a lot more
  • Make the shirt more fitted
  • Get rid of a lot of the embroidery on the front…just keep the piping and the border with the crystal embroidery (just repeat the design from the sleeve cuffs at the gala)

Re: mehndi outfits

^ yours sounds a milion times better

Re: mehndi outfits

aw thank u, i'd love to show pics but mum has packed everything away- mum dsnt want to show it to neone b4 the day... Id love to show it! esp as my two sisters got similar ones (same mirror design) but one is red, orange yellow and pink and the other is ferozi, pink, yellow and green...so its like a multi colour theme with mirrors... we just loved the idea of mirrors- in Pakistan mirrors are getting old but in the UK no-ones really done it.

as for urself, u really want a gharara then go for it! they look gorjus.. y not wear a fitted one on the mehndi and the loosy one on the valima (sorry for the bad terms) both luk lovely and obviously colours and designs will differ so its not like ul be wearing the same thing x

Mehendi outift!

What to wear to mehendi ?

i kno that many people wear the mehendi green or yellow with the combination of orange but ive never seen anyone wear like a simple yellow or mehendi green sari on their mehendi day..
where i live a lot of the brides who recently got married are all wearng the colors i ordered for my wedding and valima so i want something different for the mehendi day should i wear a sari with the gungat?
would it look bad? i was thinking a combination of mehendi green and baby blue or aqua ?

what do u think?

Re: Mehendi outift!

u can wear whatever u want...its just a typical tradition...like wearing red at the nikkah/rukhsati day !

i have seen a lot of brides on their mehndi day wearing different colours!

orange/gold --> was great!!

yello/aqua --> also fabulous

orange/pink

yellow/pink

yellow/navy blue

i think there will nobody who will say to u...why did u chose this colour?!!
at last u have to feel comfortable and to set a new trend :D

Re: Mehendi outift!

I had a yellow/orange combo....i didnt want to be tooo colorful....but its up to you really....IMO... > than 2 colors looks a little ott... unless of course its done tastefully..usually i see a colorful outfit...its put together very randomly....be careful with the combos..they can make or break the look.. :)

Re: Mehendi outift!

but wht if i choose those colors and wear a sari instead of lyk traditional sharwal kamiz or churidar?

Re: mehndi outfits

that would be really nice too- esp. since you just sit there during the whole time.

Re: mehndi outfits

I liked Sunita Marshall's mehndi outfit, it was really cute, and it had a nice color combo, not to mention, shes STUNNING!

I saw a bride in a mag and she had an olive/hot pink/turquoise churidaar and it looked fab!

Re: mehndi outfits

that sounds very pretty, g!

Re: mehndi outfits

i have got turquoise n yellow for mayoun.. n for mehndi am thinking of olive, or green yellow combo..

Re: mehndi outfits

I like her dress a lot.

Re: mehndi outfits

^ me 2! i love it!

Re: mehndi outfits

I thought about doing turquoise and yellow for my mehndi but now that every other bride has been doing it, I've decided not to go with that. Although I do love the combination...
The orange and green above is just lovely! Perhaps something along those lines... :)

Re: mehndi outfits

i really like this outfit that was posted elsewhere... it was a dark emerald green with maroon. looked gorgeous for a mehendi!

Re: mehndi outfits

^ Hmm… I have this picture in my wedding planning folders. Is this what you’re talking about? Or similar?

Or is it this one?
