Mehndi Outfits

Re: Mehandi Outfit

yup its karma and i got mine made from the pic and it cost me $500 canadian.

Re: Mehandi Outfit

SGC - it sounds just perfect! The extra stuff like kundan and stone work was it your idea or did she suggest it? I love that outfit - it just screams mehndi wear! The lady who made it, is she based in TO or did she send it over from pak? You seem very satisfied with her work - do you mind posting her contact info? If not, can you please PM it to me? thanks! I can't wait to see your pics. If you have time - can you post the pics of this lengha the way you did your wedding lengha? I don't want to wait till august to see the pics!!! :D

Re: Mehandi Outfit

hey lady, she's in toronto. her sis in law in karachi has her own karigar (two of whom used to work for karma) and she makes the clothes according to what you want and sends them over.

i asked for the diamond stones and the kundan- i was pretty anal when it came down to the details and i didn't want to leave anything to chance.

the lady's name is Abida, she's in Markham and her number is 905 472 0000
her sis in law's name is Rehana, she's in Defence and her number is 589 4194

here are pics of my mehendi gharara:

i'm not a huge fan of the egg-yolk yellow for mehendi, so i picked out more of a gold color and sent her the swatch to dye from, same with the green, red and blue. :) i love it MA!!

the pattern of the kaam is all rehana though- i had no idea where to look for patterns but she did a fantastic job, so its all good!

Re: Mehandi Outfit

very cooolll...i like it

Re: Mehandi Outfit

Wow - that was fast! Thanks! I really like the kundan work - especially the dark maroonish kaam around the kundan near the neckline and the border - the color looks great against a pale background. But why didn't you go with a brighter yellow?!? From the pics it looks very similar color wise to your wedding lengha, no? The kaam is definitely very neat and polished. What jewellery have you decided on? Maroon and kundan would like nice you think?

Re: Mehandi Outfit

How long did she take to make it? And then did she parcel it over? I would be so worried about it getting lost or something....

Re: Mehandi Outfit

she took about 3 months to make it, and she sent it over with a friend of hers- i preferred that cos someone was specifically bringing it in their luggage and were taking extra care of it. i don't think she fed-ex'es unless she absolutely has to because of the cost and also cos it might get lost.

the color looks similar in the pics cos of the lighting but its actually different. i dont like bright yellows- i don't think its flattering on me. this is more of a gold color than yellow.
the shaadi is more beige/champagne/light brown than gold.
so in person, they are two different looks :)
i should learn to take better pics! haha

i think 'im going to go with rich deep blue/turqoise jewellery to match the strip on the sleeves and neckline rather than maroon, and i'll most likely only do big earrings and a teeka, or a teeka/matha patti combo depending on how i do my hair.

Re: Mehandi Outfit

I’m glad she uses her contacts to bring stuff back - I’d be a nervous wreck until i actually got the stuff otherwise…

Turquoise sounds good! Actually i was thinking of that too after looking at the pics again! You could also do a hint of turquoise for your eye make-up - it would be so bright and eye-catching and a completely different look from your wedding day! I don’t know where you’re gonna get your jewellery from - but Lebas of India has some nice stuff and even better than that there’s this great kioske in bramalea city centre called ‘Dewdrops’ - they actually have very nice earrings and desi style jewellery. I have a wedding coming up where i’ll be wearing a turquoise sari so i was just there checking it out so I thought i’d mention it… Actually some of their stuff i find even better than Bitter Sweet. For some reason since this past december bitter sweet always has the same old stuff every time i go…

Re: Mehandi Outfit

ooh thanks for the tip! i'll have to check them out.... also i was hoping to check out that Suhaag store on albion... apparently they have lots of stuff too.

and yes, definitely bringing turqoise into the eyemakeup a little bit too... i was thinking a brown/gold eyeliner on top, with turqoise eyeliner only on the bottom... i've done it before when going out and it looks kick ass to have this super bright color but in a really subtle way.

Re: Mehandi Outfit

omg 3 months...eek that would mean disaster for me cause i'll have less than 2 monthf if i get it made from her :(
anyways yea i was gonna tell you to try and add hints of turquoise to your eye-makeup cause there is torquoise in your dress.....love the combo btw
Did you get the jewelry yet?

Re: Mehandi Outfit

no jewellery yet- still looking into making it :)
as for less than two months, yeah, you should probably speak to her as soon as you get there and specify what you want and then ask her straight up if she can do it- i mean, they're her karigar so she should be able to schedule them. i suppose it depends on how busy she is.

Re: Mehandi Outfit

hay..........thats a really nice combination i bet it looks georgeous on.......:)

Re: Mehandi Outfit

yea plus i think i prefer someone like her instead of a designer lol
i'll see what happens

Re: mehndi outfits

Did you not go through this thread? :cb:
Theres so many gorgeous color combos, u can go with any one of those..yellow and green is so blegh, i’d do yellow with fuschia or turqoise or both…

Re: mehndi outfits

Thanks!
For the life of me i still cant figure out if the kaam is green or turqoise, sad I know....
