Re: mehndi outfits
thank you girls. The first one is the KARMA design. Of course, the material and color combination is something that I chose. I haven't bought it from KARMA but asked my designer to do some light embroidery at the daman and neckline (like they had on their site) but she went overboard with it and covered the entire length of the shirt with dabka and sequins and polki. Khair.
the other one is my mom's gharara that she wore on her shadi. Since this was the first time that I was wearing bright colors and heavy dresses, I asked the designer to keep my duppata and shirt simple with the gharara. She chose the color for the shirt and it looked nice.
Re: mehndi outfits
Lately i've been crazy dabka, ever since a friend of my mom bought me a sari from india that had dabka all over it, i want in on everything, and Minerva i like the way to reinvented your mums gharara, it looks good.
Re: mehndi outfits
Love the outfits minerva, the yellow one isn;t overdone, its perfect for a mehndi. Love the gharara too, simple and beautiful and you look great love ![]()

Re: mehndi outfits
Oh my god! You have good taste. I mean I love that color. It’s the exact type of color I wanted for a lengha but I can’t find any like this. Some are too dark and some too light. It’s a mango-ish color right? I also like the combination of mango color and dark pink. Oh your lengha is so beautiful:)
Re: mehndi outfits
very pretty minerva. Maroon and yellow combo is classic!
Re: mehndi outfits
thats lovely!!!
Re: mehndi outfits
hey let me post mines I got my design from Karma as well, no wonder our dresses look very similar Minerva.. is your material raw silk?
Re: mehndi outfits
Guys kind of off topic but i have a question, my husbands sister is getting married soon, and i was wondering if it would be appropiate for me to wear what i wore on my wedding to the Walima.
Re: mehndi outfits
nah..alot of new brides do that (at least in pakistan), obviously coz they don't want their lenghas to go to waste. I'd make it more "low-key" by wearing my hair down, lighter makeup, a smaller set, and if possible, a different duputta, one that matches but is not so heavy (if it is a heavy duputta).
Re: mehndi outfits
go for it! its not unusal as sara said and it would be especially appropriate if u are so closely related
just be sure to keep the makeup and jewelry in check so as not to compete w/ the bride, and u can use the same duppatta but fold it and pin it on ur shoulders (not on ur head) so it doesnt look too dulhanish
Re: mehndi outfits
I think that’s fine.
Re: mehndi outfits
thanks guys, i think i'll wear what i wore on my nikah, it much lighter then the one i wore for the wedding,
