Is this some kind of new trend? My mom is so insistant I get it done for the engagement party.. I had to talk her down to only up to my wrist (no arms or feet) but she insisted on both front and back full (both my mom and sister were, I wanted something more simple). It’s not like I mind doing but I was wondering when this trend came up?
Re: Mehndi on Engagement?
since i can remember, this has been a trend. you don't have to have a mehndi overload and go up to your shoulders and knees, but a nice design on each hand will do. i agree with you, go with simple.
Re: Mehndi on Engagement?
i agree, i think it will create for nicer photos as well. something light, arabic style on both front and back not going past your wrist. subtle but with a touch will look pretty.
Re: Mehndi on Engagement?
It's definitely not a new trend.. I think it's been around in the West for ages (desi people's engagement). The more recent trend is to not have mehendi on the engagement...
I personally would prefer a "clean" look on the engagement... nicely manicured nails that highlight the rock :)
But yeah, if you go for it, definitely do something simple like you said
Re: Mehndi on Engagement?
I would rather like something like these for engagement with a french manicure instead of a nail colour since I personally feel only maroons/reds/browns look good with mehndi on fnger tips, light colours look scary.. designs where the base of fingers are clear and make the ring look prominent is what I would prefer. and NO arms or hands..leave that part for shadi ![]()

Agree with protos suggestion! A french manicure, with light design. These are pretty. What colours are you wearing Tere bina?
Re: Mehndi on Engagement?
A simple design is what I wanted but my mom and sister aren't having any of it... so I picked a more full style on my palms and a style that leaves my ring fingers on either side bare. I'm definitely getting a french or a pale/neutral pink colour for my nails.
My clothes are a peach and navy blue combination with some hot pink accents.
