In recent times joint family concept nahi hai…the son and his wife may live next door or closeby but not usually joint family.

Mayun is to hide the bride and keep her in a separate portion of the house (away from the sight of people specially men) for 2-3 days before the wedding day.
So your Pundit also got mehndified?

Yes it is done in sikhs and not in pandits, girl is daughter of the house, she has highest status and won’t hide anywhere:bummer:. funniest is that yaara has to get bald leaving his chotti originating from center of hairline:D and I was instructed to keep all hair open and hairs of centre of the hairline tied in the form of chotti:)
