why dont u wear a flower jhoomar at ur mehndi with a small tikka, if u want? the jhoomar doesnt have to be huge with flowers sticking out like crazy, but ive seen it done and it actually looks quite nice. my friend wore it with a small tikka so it didnt look like too much was going on.

Make sure your look is nothing like the day of the wedding...so dont wear a tika on the day of the mehndi...get your flower jewelry if you want but no tika...save that for the day of the wedding.

but how often will i wear a teeka in my life? :) thought i'd make the most of it in the 3 wedding functions.

I am telling you...save the tika for the big day because it makes a huge difference.

Play up other things...I had fun with different stuff...like I wore a paranda...and instead of a simple green outfit (everyone wears green to a mehndi) I wore a candy pink and orange two-legged sharara with really nice big earrings.

Have you already bought your outfit? For my sister's mehndi...I want her to wear a chatapati ka gharara...Inshallah.

Its a gharara…traditional two legged skirt but chatapati is pieced together by hand with different colored fabrics.

The closest thing I can find to chatapati online is

If you take a look at the shirt, its pieces of cloth that are pieced together to create the look. This a more modern take on it though, the older look was beautiful too. My mom wore chatapati on her mehndi.

I love chatapati gharara's and wore one my my mehndi with my mum's dabka bali's, no other jewellery. Though I did have a paranda and flowers in my by hair.
