Hey everyone! I’m getting married in a month..May 16th. I need help with my mehndi. You know how back home in pakistan during the mehndi girls walk under the dupattas? Well I’m looking for the phoolon ki chadar. You know how they have a dupatta kinda thing but its made purely with roses? Can someone please tell me how I can make that myself? I’m getting a florist to put the roses on but how do i make the chadar? Thanks a lot!!
Re: Mehndi help!!!
aashi4u, I think this might work if you are in America or Canda. Go to your local Home Depot or hardware store & buy a length of plastic mesh the size you want the chadar. You can then weave ribbons & the flowers in to the mesh to make it the color you want - the holes in the mesh will hold the flowers in place, just make sure you get plastic, not metal & that the holes are fairly small or the flowers will fall out.

Do you have a picture of how it looks like? I live in Canada so I can go to home depot easily

I'm sorry, I don't. I saw something like this at a gora wedding i went to - they had a ribbon & floral screen behind the couple as a backdrop & it looked like this was how it was made. I think that if it isn't too heavy you should be able to use it as a chadar (that's also why you should use plastic mesh, its lighter). I would talk to your florist if she thinks this would work, I'm sure they will know.
You could also try a length of fabric & stitch silk flowers to it as you want them - this could be made in advance & might be easier.
