At my brother's mendhi I wore an emerald green lengha, with white and red detailing. Embroidery and make up was quite heavy. Had my hair in a fish plait.
A recent family friend's wedding I wore a tea pink and turquoise chunri kameez and trousers, with straight hair and a thin turquoise head band round my forehead 70s style.

My SIL kept her outfit quite simple in that there was no sequins or gota. It was an olive green frock style dress with churridar and aubergine colour embroidery and piping. Then she had a matching paranda in her hair that was custom made.
The family friend wore a pale yellow sharara, with silver and orange gota and an orange paranda.

The traditional thing to do is go minimalist as the bride on your mehndi- plain jora, no makeup. But I'm seeing more "modern" brides get heavily dressed up on their mehndi. I guess it's up to you, what kind of bride you want to be.

On my sis wedding , we had a combination of yellow, purple and pink. And everybody loved it.
