Mehndi Clothes

I definitely want to have a “simple” more traditional look for the mehndi/mayoun.

I was thinking of doing a plain yellow lacha for the mayoun (with minimal kaam) and then doing a gharara with the colorful stuff on the bottom (I think it’s called chatta patthi work) with green being the base color for the kameez.

But I’m having second thoughts because maybe the lacha would be nicer with more kaam…and doing it for the mehndi instead?
Either way I don’t want my mehndi outfit too be too crazy…I was also debating of just dropping the whole mehndi outfit and wearing my mom’s shaadi outfit for it instead (it’s parrot green and shocking pink lehnga)

thoughts?

here’s the lacha style I’m talking about (with less work and yellow color for the mayoun)

but in this type of design (less blingy):

Here’s the mehndi type dress I was referring to (maybe changing the kameez color to green though)

confuseddddd. please help!

Re: Mehndi Clothes

The lacha style is nice and something I've never really seen, so if you're into something unique, I'd say go for it! I think I would lol.

Go with what colours look good on your skintone, I can't for the life of me pull off vibrant yellows so I avoid them, but I'm really loving that 2nd one and you could do the lacha style at the bottom.

Re: Mehndi Clothes

do lacha for the mehndi, you're saying? or do it for the mayoun? I'm leaning towards the pink/yellow one if I do it for the mayoun since it's more light and traditional.

Re: Mehndi Clothes

yeah I went simple for mayoun and mehndi too - I am not really into the latest Pakistani trend of over the top mehndi dresses and makeup. it really depends on what you want and what will look good on you. For mayoun, I used my mom's old mehndi dress & updated it slightly (straight kameez & churi dar). For mehndi, traditional pishwaaz wih kaam on neck / front with churi dar - green-pink color combo. I just liked churi dar so most of my dresses (for my wedding) were with it.

Re: Mehndi Clothes

What's a pishwaas? Yeah the new trend isn't my style either--I want something more on the traditional side. I debated churidaar but I think I'm going to do that with my nikkah outfit.

Re: Mehndi Clothes

pishwas is similar to what ppl call “anarkali” but traditional pishwas is like a balochi dress… not like frock dress, but more a-line kurta or kameez type. Mine was more a-line kurta rather than the frock style… when i got married, the whole gown style was in over-kill so i wanted something different. The style of my dress (in terms of kameez length & cut) was similar to the last 2 pics here

Re: Mehndi Clothes

Ya it would look really nice for mayoun. Sounds like a nice colour combination. :D
