I had a quick question. Why doesn’t anyone do the tel/oil rasms on the mehndi anymore? It still happens in my family but I noticed I don’t see it anymore. I remember before, after the mehndi the bride and groom would be all messy and icky from oil all over their heads and whatnot since people would come up and apply it, etc.*
In fact, they have the oil stuff set up by the stage in front of the couple. Is the trend going? I hope not, since that’s the fun bit! Of course a bit messy but so much fun too!
maybe coz the bride has a good designer jora for her mehndi .... she wont like spoiling it with the oil :p
(yeh rasam to tabb ki hai jab saaday cotton, lawn k joray hotay thay mehndi, mayyoun pe)
lol, exactly what I was thinking; whether the designer/heavy outfits had something to do with it. But I'm sure no one is gonna break long traditions over a pricey outfit. =/
You know, where people come and apply ubtan/oil on the groom and bride's faces/hair; respectively. They also put some mehndi or something on a leaf/bill that both of the couple has in their palms? Maybe people started doing this on the mayoon now, I don't know. I just know that I need to have this on my wedding. I'd do it on the mayoon since the mehndi outfit will be pricey.
Maybe it's a Lahori thing then since we do ubtan to the face on the mayoun and oil to hair on the mehndi. Like people will come up and do this to you, the close family and friends will try to make you extra messy. It's fun and memorable!
