Mehendi on HAIR

I know that many people put on mehendi on the hair to make them soft, give colour to their hair as well.

I am thinking of trying it; my hair are dark brown so would it make them a little lighter shade?

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

I put mehendi on my hair once in a while, it's a great conditioner and gives a wonderful, soft texture to my hair.
I have dark brown hair too, and I've found that mehendi gives a reddish tinge to my hair. When I'm standing in the sun, my hair looks reddish brown, but definitely not ligther. I love the warmth it adds to my hair.

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

they add the copperish/burgandy touch to hair under the sun. However Daffy you should know that later you can't colour your hair for a year (at least 6-8 months) as dyes can have the opposite effect on the hair.

but yes mehndi is a great conditioner and it really helps with the frizz too !

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

Henna is supposed to be amazing for the hair…if you’re wanting to colour your hair, you could maybe try Lush Henna Dyes.

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

Its nice but you cannot dye over it.

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

I don’t dye my hair anyway. I have a few white hair here & there so i am considering putting on mehendi for them. I hope my hair get an overall lighter shade via it

Hey **@Enigmatic & @Reha, **
you both have seen me so please help me decide if low lights would suit me or not? I have never treated or dyed my hair but i feel like getting a Loreal X-tenso treatment & low lights .. some what like this:
Lowlight

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

The mehndi will add a reddish color to your hair...which may be more visible if your hair is dark brown. On black hair...that reddish color is more visible in the light. I don't see it as a "lightening" of hair color. For that, you'd have better results using hair dye which contains a bleaching agent. You'll get the color you desire...but it can be harsh on hair.

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

Thanks RV - This is the reason i am little scared to use dyes. My original hair colour is fine enough. I already have excessive hair fall and im trying not to risk any unnatural things to the hair.

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

Daffy you can use it on virgin hair, just make sure you get pure Mehndi that does not contain chemicals or added ingredients.
You can add chai ka qehwa to make the color even better but yeah you have to wait for 8 months to 1 year before you get any hair treatment otherwise it can damage one's hair.

Why dont you go for some color... believe me its easier to apply.

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

I am going for the loreal X-tenso treatment which gives rebonding look but with blow dry volume in the hair. I am not too comfortable using more chemicals for dyeing again on the hair.

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

My mum uses mehndi on her hair every few months and it is a great natural conditioner
only thing is, its murder to try and get out!

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

add coffee powder to mehndi.

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

Whaaaat??? You cant get chemical treatments done on your hair after mehndi?? i never heard it? Mehndi is so natural it shouldnt be harmful???!

Re: Mehendi on HAIR

It will just give it a tinge of say ginger/red/light brown which is more visible in the sun. It does make the hair much nicer as well. BUT don't do it in a cold climate otherwise you will get ill..I usually put it on in the summer and then sit outside in the sun!
