Mehendi - jewellery/ make up

Hi guppies!!

here is a question i am wondering …

in terms of mehendi make up would you wear make up ? i.e eye shadow / eyeliner. I am sure everyone will wear foundation and blush to give you a bit of glow, but where do you draw the line?

I have seen so many video’s online/ attended mehendis where the bride has full make up ( including heavy eye make up ) and i do think they look stunning, in comparison to the ones who don’t albeit they are beautiful in general but the wow factor is more with make up.

But then again people never fail to mention … oh you are meant to look seedi saddi ,plain and not wearing make up because you wont look any different on your wedding day!

What is a girl to do ? i am wearing yellow and orange, i’ve booked a MUA to do my mehendi make up, but what do i do? just the base , blush and eyelashes ? no eyeliner/ eye make up ??

I have a similar issue with jewellery for the mehendi, i was considering wearing a tikka for the mehendi… as i am going to have flower jewellery ( earrings , tikka) which i can replace the metal tikka with the flower one or something?

but again the traditional being jewellery is not applicable on a mehendi?? i am SO confused.

I was considering wearing a punja atleast if nothing else on my hands as i think it will look nice! is this too much??

i know i should do what i want to do … but i don’t know what i want really! i am just wondering why i should spent x amount on the mehendi and look like a sick woman!

so overall my questions are :

  1. what kind of make up? please dont say light as it does not mean anything! ( so foundation, blush, lipstick and fake lashes/ eyemake up heavy? or softer colours?) i am wearing yellow and orange …

  2. jewellery : do i wear a tikka? stud earrings? punja? … or just a jummer? or a combination of something ? i will be wearing choorian on both hands ( coloured ones!)

thanks guys  xxxx

Re: Mehendi - jewellery/ make up

on my mehndi I didnt want to wear heavy makeup, so I wore foundation and blush to give a glow, then I had lined the inside of my eyes with kajal, and had a thin line of eyeliner on top, put a few coats of mascara, and natural looking gloss. So I didnt look dead in the pictures, but I still looked simple but nice. If you do want to wear eyeshadow, I would suggest colours like a natural gold instead of going for bright orange or yellow.

As for jewellry, I wore a jhumar, and khaanch ki choorian on both hands. and a big kundan ring on one finger.

For you, I would suggest either tikka and earrings, or jhumar and earrings...dont do both tikka and jhumar, it will take it over the top! Good luck!

Re: Mehendi - jewellery/ make up

I would suggest light natural make-up. I think it looks lovely, espeically with the bright mehndi outfit. Simple foundation, natural blush and mascara.
I wouldn't wear tikka but jhoomar sounds great. Depends on what you like better, but don't do both. That might be a bit much for mehndi look

Good luck :)
