Okay so because of instagram I know mehendis in Pakistan have everyone wearing lehenga cholis, regardless of whether they are close to the bride/groom.
Has anyone gone to mehendis here in London or the rest of the UK recently, is that the same case, or is it just the very close family that wear the lehenga cholis? I don’t particularly know the bride, my family knows the family so I’m going. I just really wanted to wear this lehenga choli again that I had made for someone else’s mehendi.
Re: Mehendi event in London
Anyone?

Well, maybe it's just the accounts I follow but I think the weddings you are referring to are society weddings where a lot of the guest are wearing designers labels and heavy outfits regardless. At my BILs wedding in Pakistan last month, the only one wearing a lengha choli at the mehndi was the bride, no one else from her side or our side was.
As for here, I guess it depends on what you're comfortable doing. I'm pretty sure given time the trend will filter through to guests so why not be one of the few now if you're okay with it.

I dont think I've seen anyone wearing lengha cholis at the mehndis I've been to. Partly because a lot of the girls I know would get a thappar from their mums for showing their stomachs, but also becuase a lot of them tend to wear more western labels at mehndis, so its mainly maxi dresses or short kameezes. if it's a big event then you probably can get away with it.

Thanks guys, I realised the same as well just wanted to see what others thought because I haven't really been to pakistani weddings in a long time here in London.

LOL Mad Hatter, if I were to expose my stomach my mother would slap me as well. When I said lehenga choli, I was talking about a top that covered the stomach, not way too long but not stomach exposing either, just enough to cover. Similar to Mahira in the balley balley song but still a bit longer so that the little bit of stomach showing in that song doesn't show either lol.
