Mehendi decore

I know there are threads on this topic but i want a specific to my requirements thread on this. Mehendi is a private family event but with even that there are 100+ immediate guests. Anyway, the place that is booked (don’t ask how it got booked) but turns out isn’t too good. Its a very normal looking hall that needs a lot of effort to look beautiful. :cb:

Anyway, any cost effective suggestions to make a hall colourful and beautiful??

Re: Mehendi decore

Go all colorful yet not over the top :chai:

Get those pretty decorated thals and use flowy fabric drappings…i’ll try to post pix later.

Re: Mehendi decore

lighting makes a big difference.. dim the lights in the hall and add coloured uplighting by the walls

as for the stage, if you're in pakistan, decorate with lots of flowers (those ones on the strings, sorry dunno the proper name).. otherwise panels of different bright-coloured fabrics can be cost-effective

Re: Mehendi decore

I want to hang some chinese lanterns in a whole bunch of different colours at my mehndi.
I also want to make a whoile bunch of tissue paper puffs in different colours and hang them from the ceiling as well. Here’s a video showing how you make 'em: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDAgjtScFpU
best part… tissue paper is pretty inexpensive! and you can get them in tons of colours!
fabric draping would be ideal.. but it can get expensive. you can try using dupattas instead.
hope this helps

Re: Mehendi decore

Do talk to the venue vendor and see what decoration items they have available. Its always cheaper to rent from them or through their contacts then to venture out on your own to buy/rent.

Some budget-friendly yet pretty ways to vamp up a hall are:

Decorate the roof of the hall with colored fabric of your choice to get a tent like effect - intersperse with christmas lights

Similarly, create a draped entrance - this makes a visually pleasing first impression and is a good background for photographs

Use floor lamps of different heights and shapes around seating areas

Bead curtains can be used to add color and create texture that makes walls interesting

Additionally, use floor cushions and brightly colored rugs. If you have a more modern take then instead of using flowers and lights to decorate walls, you can use framed truck art or posters from Pakistani films. Latter is cheaply available at Urdu Bazaar, Lahore.

Re: Mehendi decore

check out this page on Facebook called Rani Pink !! might give u some ideas

You can go to a cloth wholesale market and buy yards and yards of fabric in two or more shades and stick “tikkis / beads” on it yourself and hang them around party hall like a fake tent / marquee

Also marigold flowers are pretty cheap compared to others I believe, so string together marigolds in the length and hang them.
