mehdi

we have different ideas about mehdi. sunnnis think that he will be born. shias think that he is already alive or something. what is it about him. don’t you think that it is just a story to keep us sleeping, a sleeping pill.

Congratulations. With that last sentence, you've managed the rare feat of simultaneously offending Sunnis and Shias on a topic where they hold different views...

Before you ask questions like that, you should try and do some research into the authenticity of the Hadiths that clearly refer to the Mehdi being present in the future.

Congratulations MadScientist, you just proved jaanaan's point.

Touché!

First of all, for many, its a matter of aqeeda not something which can be scientifically proven or disproven at this point.

Secondly, it seems to me that unfortunately this whole aqeeda helps muslims to not improve. We offer opinions after opinions that the present days muslims have fallen to the bottom of failure and disunity, bad rulers, below-par in science and development, lack of resources, poverty, over-population etc etc etc. And the answer offered is "we'll just have to wait for Mehdi to come and unite us and change our condition".

IMO;

Those who believe that Mehdi is suppose to come unite the Muslims .. should get down on the MusallaH & start praying! Lets see if he shows up.

Those who believe he is not coming, try to change the aweful condition of the Muslim World themselves. Lets see how far they can go.

None of the two groups necessarily have to do only these two things exclusively. They can/should pray as well as work to uplift themselves individually as well as collectively.

Sure!!

Blind faith? How do you know Quran is the word of God? After all you never saw Hazrat Jibrael (Allaih Salaam) bring any verses, or did you? How do you know even that there is a God? Or that there were messangers of God named Moses, Jesus or Muhammad (Sallalah O Alaihai Wassalam)?

Its all based on faith.

assalamoalikum :jhanda:

stick to the topic plz and answer the ? posed instead of having a verbal argument. :topic: :nono1:

rite, jaanaan this is what i know about the promised hazrat imam mehdi (elehisalatuwasalam), i will include some points ok…

THE PROMISED MEHDI (MEHDI-AL-MA’OOD)

According to Islamic theology “Mehdi” means ‘the divinely guided one’ or ‘the directed one’. Prophet Mohammed (S.A.S), the last of the prophets, informed that Allah will send His Caliph in the Ummah of Mohammed (S.A.S), to invite people towards right path. It was prophesied by Mohammed (S.A.S) that; an illustrious son from his progeny would appear after him who would establish the just and true religion as it was in his own time. Prophet Mohammed (S.A.S) foretold about the advent of Mehdi (the promised) through his various traditions. A few traditions (Hadiths) are given below.

TRADITIONS

  1. Ibn Abbas (R) is quoted as saying:
    The Prophet (pbuh) said, how would my folks (Ummah) be perished when I am at its beginning, Jesus, the son of Mary, is at its end and the Mehdi from my progeny is in the middle.

  2. Sauban (R) quoted another tradition as follows:
    The Prophet of Allah (S.A.S) said, " For your treasure (throne) of Khilafat, there would be a fight between aspirants of Khilafat but none would get it. Then from the east people bearing black flags would appear, and they would massacre you as none would have done before. But no one would defeat them. Then the Caliph of Allah, the Mehdi, would appear. If you hear about him, go to him and make covenant (Ba’ith) with him even if you would have to crawl on ice for that purpose, as he be the Caliph of Allah";

  3. The Prophet (S.A.S) once said that even if a day remained for the end of this world, Allah would prolong the day unless and until, from the progeny of my house (Ahl-e-Baith) a person is born whose name would be my name, whose father would have the name of my father and who would fill the world with justice as it would be full of atrocities. He would equally distribute wealth and would enrich the hearts of believers. He would survive for seven or nine years.

  4. Shaik Mohiuddin Ibn-e-Arabi quoted a tradition in his book “Futuhat-al- Makkiya” that the Prophet (S.A.S) said ;" Mehdi is from me; he will follow my footsteps (with true prints and exact weight and without changing the shape) without err.

Even if a Mehdi came along, no one would believe him, and when said Mehdi will claim that he/she is divinely guided, Subhanallah, all our 'muslim sheikhs' and 'scholars' will issue a fatwa against him and will demand his head on a silver platter.

12th imam......?/?/.....come on insolent ...do u believe in imam story..........he will not be imam......as they believe....i dont want to start that debate ....thats why not naming them...........any way both sects have quite differing believe about mehdi...
salam

Most importantly is to believe.

If you don't have belief? Faith?

What else is there?

The shias claim of "their 12th mehdi" is similar to the neoconservative chrisitan claim of the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ to restore christianity as the religon of truth. Yet both these events will in turn crush the beliefs of its followers, i.e when Jesus Christ re-appers, he will kill the swine, break the cross and thus nullify all the Christian concepts. Similary the coming of the Mehdi will mark the end of the shias as he will nullify all their claims of the 12 Mehdi myth. Its a shame that both classes of stauch supporters are in a way calling for their own end.
