Thanks everybody for the responses We have confirmed that we are meeting them at their place, we chose a time which was not lunch nor dinner so it wont be too much work etc for them.

I will update you all on what it was like!

ZK families have already approved each other by talking on the phone a few times, then me and the guy spoke once over the phone. Now we are meeting. So no issues there!

Chances are he will be asked to leave by his family to give you a break, it would be funny if either of you hesitate or show reluctance for him to leave the room ... I would personally leave if I was in that situation ... but I would also call the girl to come out too and whether she wanted to go for a walk in the garden ... I couldn't talk to girl in front of my folks or hers ... Not for the first meet.

Every rishta I have met the guy has spoken to me infront of his parents, even this really shy guy. So I don't think its weird.

If he gets up and leaves within 10 mins of sitting there - I would assume this is an expression of disinterest. If he asks me along with him to 'the garden' I would laugh at how bollywood that is but it would be nice.

Just go to their place with a open mind. No pre-conceived notions please. (like what if he gets up, what if he doesn’t get up)

If I were you, after staring at him for like 10 minutes, I would go, “Aur kia kartay hain aap?”. And then when he answers, pretend I’m deaf.

you didn’t get it i guess…have you watched “Everybody LOVES Raymond”? in that show, all the serious talks/disputes get settled in the Kitchen…Raymond’s wife mostly summons him to come in the kitchen to get an earful! lol

Traditionally in my family, the girl only goes to the guys house after rukhsati
However, i think you get an advantage here as you get to ease into their environment and see how it works for you. I think its kinda cool that you get to experience that.

Same here, but we have met with the family 4 or 5 time, so in recent meeting we have dinner together with the family near our house arranged by them, after the dinner we invited the girl & Parents to lets have a Tea with us in our home, so girl was in our house before rukhsati,

i think we too have brake the tradition

its another story after meeting so many times, don’t know that i am going to marry with her
