The big day is in two weeks inshaAllah. I wanted to gt your input on meetha for rasms on the mehndi.
I really don’t like mithai and would really prefer not to have to eat tonnes on my mehndi. What other things have people used? That’s easy to serve etc. I know at my older sister’s mehndi we had chocolate but then some people would eat the chocolate themselves and give my sister the mithai (what the heck, I know lol)
A lot of people recently have been choosing fruit and at least here in Canada we've got this company that does fruit bouquets so it looks pretty and it also isn't sugar overload. Just obviously don't pick fruits like apples and bananas as they turn brown quickly. Also if you put cocktail skewers or even toothpicks, then it doesn't get messy either. M&Ms are a really a good idea as mentioned in the above post.
For my sister's mendhi, we did fruit. Take a pineapple, shave the pointy parts off, put fruit on tookpicks and stick it in the pineapple. It looks really good and you get your fruit serving of the day! Haha!
I have seen a hollowed out pineapple with grapes on the inside, and then toothpicks in a small cup on the side of the tray. This is attractive and lets people feed the bride and groom healthy snacks without actually having to touch any food.
You guys are so amazing!!!!!!!!!!! I had my mayyon and had to eat 1 laddoo and was so upset lol. These ideas are so good! Going to try the pineapple with toothpicks stuck on it. Will put my sisters to work!! Thank you so much again!!!
We had mitahi for the very traditional people, but also had a bowl of smarties/m&ms, and fruit cut up and put on toothpicks. Those are also easier to eat and you don't get full from eating a few pieces here and there.
The older aunties will always want to feed you mithai no matter what. I am not a big dessert person and very picky with my likes ... so I remember my mom made my fav mithai for the mehndi / mayoun platter (for anyone who would want to feed me mithai cuz mom-made are the only kind i would eat), there were some Hershey Kisses, and some Ferrero Rocher. Usually the relatives and older aunties go first in feeding you sweets... with my cousins i just asked them to feed me chocolates... at the end when i could take no more sugar, my friends just fake-fed me. As in pretend to take a spoon of something and i pretend to eat it.
