My cousin gave birth to a baby boy, they want to name him Meekal, the problem is that we don’t know whether this is a real name, because i think Mikaeel is the name of Allah (s.w.t) angel, can someone confirm whether Meekal is a name too. Thankyou,

But I guess it's easier for non-Muslims to say and remember Michael than Navaid, Ibrahim or Mohammed...

no, i am not related to anyone on Gupshup, not that i know of anyway!!! They actually heard that name on a drama actor, Meekal and really liked it. Any help would be great guys, By the way there are still loads of muslim out there who go for great islamic names, a few examples within my family are ismail, ibrahim, isaac, isa and mohammed. My cousin just wanted summat different, although if i'm honest with you i wouldn't want the kid to be called Michaeel at school. Meekal is better it sounds different to Mikaeel (michaeel).

It is "Mikaeel" and not "Meekal", although I'm sure you could find other spellings of it. I love that name myself.

Thank you Cat Woman! Although i think i may also ask my cousin to ask at the mosque, they will know better about this, I agree it's a great name, all the good ones are taken now, this is unusual, i haven't heard it on anyone (exept for Zara Sheikhs boyfriend). Great name though!!

Meekal the angel leads the Meekal Hassan Band here in Pak. I guess you haven't heard of him. One of my class mates in the uni was named Jibreel (no kidding) which as we know is also the name of an angel. I am not sure how he spelt it though.

Ranjhan is the dude from the romantic Punjabi novel "Heer Ranjha" by Baba Bulleh Shah.
Heer Ranjha is the Punjabi version of Romeo & Juliet, and Bulleh Shah the Punjabi Shakespear.
I'm not Punjabi and I don't particulary like Bulleh Shah just this one romantic.
What sort of a choora chamaar would have a real name like Ranjha? :D

my cousin had a son last year and named him mikhail (proncounced Mic-kyle)..his name was first called ISA (since mum's name was mariam..)
