Re: Medicine in Pakistan???
On the contrary Sarah, an M.B.B.S. from a recognized University in Pakistan is most definitely honored almost all around the world. Each region however has its own licensing procedures and that’s where the hurdle is. In the U.S. for example, people need to successfully complete U.S.M.L.E. steps 1,2 and 3 in order to be able to start their residency.
I’m pretty sure that in U.K. it will be something almost similar, albeit it may even be easier cuz of the Commonwealth link between the two countries.
I can only give more info on the U.S. and Canadian system. I have three or four relatives who’ve successfully started practicing after getting their M.B.B.S. in Pakistan.
Fita, the key is not to get sucked into one of those galli mohalle ke colleges. Do your research, but the major medical colleges in Pakistan include:
Agha Khan, King Edward, Allama Iqbal, Army Medical College, Dow, and Ayub Medical College. These are the ones I know of the top of my head.
