Medicinal Herbs

Many herbs have been used since ancient times for medicinal purposes.

Please share your personal experiences with such herbs and if they worked for you.

Here is one that I know has worked for many mothers.

**Fenugreek: **can be used for mothers who wish to increase their milk supply especially during the first few weeks when their milk supply isn’t fully established or is insufficient.

****note: be careful when using some herbs because they may interact with certain drugs and medical conditions. please be sure to consult a medical professional before using medicinal herbs. ****

Re: Medicinal Herbs

Another productive thread. Will have lots to learn and research on these herbs; Fenugreek for one, which I did not know about.

If anyone has experience with any of the herbs or medicinal supplements, share how was your experience.

Would Green Tea be safely qualified as "medicinal herb"? The pills are a good source of weight reduction, although taking pills is not exactly the kind of way to go when losing weight; it has to be naturally without the use of any pills.

Thought I would put the Green Tea out there; pills or liquid form in a bottle is a nice change but not nearly as effective as some others in the market.

Re: Medicinal Herbs

Fenugreek = Maethi…:k:

this also helps with coughs and Upper Respitory Infections…

Re: Medicinal Herbs

^ i didn’t know that methi and fenugreek were the same.

I should try eating some right now in that case :bummer:

Re: Medicinal Herbs

:)*** Yes it sure is one and same thing…***

Try Kasuri Maethi…is the best..:k:

Re: Medicinal Herbs

kasuri methi....ok i think we have that. how do i take it?

Re: Medicinal Herbs

Fenugreek also helps control diabetes. The seeds are particulary beneficial. I think the best way to eat the seeds is to sprout them and have them in the morning. Also fenugreek provides a bitter taste which is lacking in most diets.

Re: Medicinal Herbs

Fenugreek: Also good for joint pains. Too much consumption can lead to constipation. So use in moderation.

Echinacea: If you can find a pure source in pill form, great for immunity building. I've personally been able to control my chronic sinustis with this. Again, to be taken for no more than 2 weeks at a time.

Garlic: Helps to build immunity and cut cholesterol.

Kalonji: Supposed to be good for any ailment. Also a sunnah.

Ajwain: Great for controling digestive trouble, acid reflux.

Clove oil: Dabbed on hurting tooth provides instant relief.

Re: Medicinal Herbs

excellent thread... well..i personally have never used any of the herbs as i've never felt the need of it. Alhamdolillah.
