if PLAB ranks somewhere near the top of your academic goals (for example u really really want to become a consultant or obtain the MRCS etc. ) then i think you should go for it right away as the material you learned in medical college is still fresh in your mind so you have a chance to do well on the test.
On the other hand, house job wont really hurt you. more than often students acquire some hands-on experience at hospitals (such as civil) and find themselves in a better position to make a decision as big as leaving the country. some often opt to stay in the country and try to get the local certifications FRCP etc.
bottom line: students 'usually' do well if they write the tests right after or during their final year. house job would give you a better idea about ur future goals. set your priorities and decide. hth.
