Thats true. But you know what, I've noticed it changing after the recent incident. Now they are accepting this fact and recognizing it as a terrorism act. Balanced media outlets like NYtimes and NPR have highlighted this a lot. I'll find their links and post it.
Even FOX had to admit that its actually a terrorist act so you can imagine.

^ I agree that law is respected in USA and that's why Guantanamo bay detention center was established to avoid legal complications when dealing with people who could not be categorized as "terrorists" under American law.
