Media Heroes

Though I must say the media has been on par with the lawyers and politicians and perhaps played their roles with more effectiveness and dedication than the former. though there are way too many heroes to name, I think there is no doubt that the biggest credit goes to:

Hamid Mir
Talat Hussain
Shahid Masood

Hamid Mir in particular has been really impressive because his program is the most entertaining, whereas talat hussain and shahid masood tend to be more focused and serious. From Musharraf’s law minister scratching his balls on Capital Talk, to Aitezaz Ahsan making a fool out of Attaaarni General Qayyum, pitting it out, we’ve seen it all on Capital Talk. Talat probably had to undergo more hardships because he was very vocal about the policies of Musharraf and MQM, and AajTv as a result was attacked numerous times by the MQM. Shahid Masood is probably the best analyst amongst the three.

Re: Media Heroes

aag lagao salay

God Bless Great President Musharaf and Shahid Masood friendship.

Re: Media Heroes

^ holy crap.

he is GRATE not great…

Re: Media Heroes

Media Hero is Musharraf if you like it or not, without him you will not have 50+ channels and hence the above mentioned people wouldnt have job or platform to air heroism.

He created this media, allowed them to prosper and changed the whole society. apart from differences we should salute him for this lagacy he left behind.

Re: Media Heroes

^ No he didnt, media channels were started by those who invested and put capital into it. Instead of saluting him, I'd much rather spit at his kooji boothi.

Re: Media Heroes

^ our media hero doesnt seem to be doing so, spock

Another propaganda line from Mush that proved to be false.

Respect and gratitude must be shown to all those media men who bravely resisted Mush’s bullets abd goons to show the world the truth about the corrupt ex-dictator. :jhanda:

Re: Media Heroes

moreover Asma Sherazi, Kashif Abbasi,Aaj TV famous Bolta Pakisatn hosts,Iftikhar of Jawabdah were impressive also. I dont know in US,UK etc news channel Express News is shown or not but its best program Column Kaar is the best geo poltico socio discussion programme i have ecver seen. One speciality its not host asking a pannel of guest in a usual manner .Its consists of 4 Pakistan's top jornalists headed by Abbas Athar, Abdul Qadir Hassan , Haroon ur Rasheed and one from guset sometimes Mujeeb ur Rahman Shami or Irfan Siddique or Mohsin Goraya or any other. Abbas Athar is 40+years of experience in this field and one of the most satirical figure of pakisatn's media. Haroon Rasheed and Qadir Hassan too are very experienced journalists. But you must have very strong sense of humour, a little punjabi language grip and know how of Pakisatn 's political environment to enjoy this wonderful show.

Re: Media Heroes

KAka, I agree, theres alot of heroes. I used to follow Asma Shirazi last year when she was with ARY and covered the judicial crisis. She did great, and was once pushed around by the thugs hired by the Govt, but she still kept going.

I said I would spit at them, not the media heroes. As far as media heroes, they are entitled to their own opinion, but I could tell you this, Hamid Mir has no love for Mushy, take my word for it.

Re: Media Heroes

i hope they have no love for anyone, and hopefully continue to do the same scrutiny for the crooks following this one.

i am truly surprised at Masood though, given the hardline stances he took on his show to have capitulated so completely before PPP and Mush sahab. seems more like he was a hack for hire.

Re: Media Heroes

I agree, now they need to stress on the restoration of an independent judiciary.

learn to give credit where its due even if they are enemies. those who invested only when it was legally allowed to setup stations, this policy never existed before Musharraf. if PEMRA the regulator didnt invite people to setup stations and allotted frequency bands.

and ofcourse all this could be possible during previous spineless governments too, but they too scared to do so! they love to have only PTV1..PTVn under tight government control

fakedeal, how is it proved wrong? brave men of media only allowed to broadcast and start the stations only under musharraf liberal policies. he had the courage to allow this setup and debates, before that we all know how powerfull PTV is.

Up until 1991-1992, India had just one TV station too, does that mean Rao was the one who started it all? Its simple, this was inevitable, a global phenomena all over the world for developing countries, Musharraf or no Musharraf. Yes, he was sane when he took over, but post 2002, when he sided with the chaudhries of gujrat, mqm, and the lotaz from ppp and pml[n], he started the crackdown on media too. Why wasnt PEMRA issuing a license to Geo English last year?

completely agree.

i dont suppose it will happen without some deal which ensures the safety of NRO. if that happens perhaps there is room for new faces like PTI to agitate.

Re: Media Heroes

I think the post-Mush scenario will have JI/PTI as the vocal opposition, kind of like the one that the ARD had back in 2002 onwards against Musharraf and the PML[Q]/MQM.

Alhamdulilallah. This was another great achievement of Great President Musharaf. Let’s hope the Freedom of Media continues. :k:
