Media Coverage to PTI's jalsas

During the past few days PTI has carried out jalsas in Bahawalnagar, Hasilpur, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal, Sialkot and Mianwali. But there is been almost negligible coverage of these events, what could be the reasons for that?

  1. Poor performance by PTI’s media managers
  2. Bullying tactics of PTI trolls on social media have pushed the media away, I have observed this personally on Twitter that if someone writes something against PTI or IK the trolls starts attacking him instead of countering to their arguments.
  3. Pressure from the highest authorities and using PEMRA for this purpose as the two biggest parties seem to be threatened by PTI?
  4. Retirement of previous ISI chief (Pasha)

I think it could be a combination of some of these factors. There is no positive coverage to PTI nowadays, only news about the Tsunami fading away, infighting in PTI and other negative news. What do you guys reckon could be behind this trend?

Re: Media Coverage to PTI's jalsas

Hamid Mir was was at Mianwali jalsa and said that Imran's jalsa is historical and he shouldn't worry about media. That means he realizes that media is biased. It is well known that media won't cover such events without getting something back in return. Unfortunately PTI doesn't have enough money to waste for coverage.

Re: Media Coverage to PTI's jalsas

A combination of 3 & 2 IMO.

Re: Media Coverage to PTI’s jalsas

Hamid Mir as well as Saleem Safi were both in yesterday’s jalsa.

This is what Najam Sethi is saying about IK’s Sialkot jalsa:

**IK’s jalsa in Sialkot was impressive. Local Q MPA switching to PTI!

Hamid Mir ‏ @hamid MirGEO

@waqas abdullah3 I traveled to Mianwali with IK,Javed Hashmi and Salim Safi I saw lot of tribal area youth with PTI flags its a good sign

Re: Media Coverage to PTI's jalsas

Unfortunately for you and others like you, overseas Pakistanis (just like majority of Pakistan-residing Pakistanis) care for performance, track-record, and a person's corruption history and judge the person on merit.

The money he campaigned for so far has been put to good use, and he has something to show for it in the shape of Namal University, Cancer Hospital as the most visible, still functioning, still operating, and helping the poor, assets that Pakistani people own.

Please don't spread lies, and corrupt your afterlife for the sake of blindly worshipping a party that probably couldn't give two hoots if you were shot in the leg by one of its' MPA's/MNA's. If you're going to spread lies, and filth at least have the decency to back it up with legible, reputable sources that we can all agree on. I'm still waiting on that from you from last time. Your other thread is still open, feel free to post anytime. :)

As for Media Coverage, I think PTI is getting all the coverage it needs. As long as it connects with the people on a basic level and gets them onboard, that's vital. Whether the entire country gets to see it on the screen is not as important, rather it compliments their successful efforts if their efforts are broadcast. Media coverage at this juncture is not as important. In due time, and with intervals PTI continues to get steady coverage. The only difference is that whenever you see PTI on the tv, it's for a reason not just to spew lies and fool the public.

Quality coverage is better than being on the TV everyday for the sake of Public Damage control or to defend the party's latest shenanigans.

LOL… you see only that because PPP supporters don’t yet know how to use twitter.

Their mental capacity is on display here and much more colourful display can be found in youtube comments.

Re: Media Coverage to PTI's jalsas

Dont worry I know what I'll do with my zakaat, by the way you dont necessarily have to donate through IK or Shaukat Khanum, there are many other organizations (TCF, Sahara Foundation, Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplant, Edhi Foundation and some other NGO's who are dealing with the IDP's and the flood victims of Sindh) out there through which you can reach out to the people more needy than us.

Re: Media Coverage to PTI's jalsas

Overseas Pakistanis are neither foolish, nor do they suffer from lack of information. Thanks to satellite TV, families back home, and our own frequent trips back home, we are as well aware, if not better, of the situation in our nation, than our Pak dwelling friends.

Imran Khan is very specific in each of his fund raising tours. He clearly specifies whether he is soliciting funds for Shaukat Khanum, flood affectees, or PTI. This clarity helps donors make informed and calculated decisions, and gives them extra confidence. All of the donated money is audited by third party auditors. There is not a single party in Pakistan other than PTI that does that, and I doubt there ever will be. Imagine PPP ever getting audited. Every single penny will be traced to Benazir and Zardari's accounts and properties

PTIs media coverage has definitely gone down recently, but Im sure it will pick up once the Quetta jalsa takes place. Its surprising to see Wasi Shah, who is primarily a PTV employee, go against his employers and write such an op-ed.

Re: Media Coverage to PTI's jalsas

According to Hamid Mir the media is under pressure from all corners, the PPP and PMLN complain that too much coverage is being given to PTI, and JUI-F believes that they are not being covered. Keeping all this in mind I guess they have started ignoring PTI now, although yesterday they were covering JUI-F and Sunni Tehreek's jalsas.

Re: Media Coverage to PTI's jalsas

PTI's media team is weak. There is no doubt about it. They need to work on that, the sooner, the better.

This is also an issue. Some impulsive souls do indulge in name-calling, but everything happening in the name of PTI isn't a truth. What media needs to understand is that PTI cannot control the entire spectrum of facebook and twitter. If Anwar Pasha becomes some Pasha Khan and abuse Sana Bucha on her facebook, she will instantly point her finger towards the PTI, but only we know who this real Pasha Khan is, Sana Bucha can never know it. But we all know what storm she will raise on her show because of this gentleman.

Re: Media Coverage to PTI’s jalsas

Sadly, I’m not sure we’ll know it either. :bummer: That’s the curse of online anonymity.
