I agree with Afshi. On another note I would request people to not use the westernised version of the name Makkah. It is Makkah and not Mecca the way it is pronounced in Arabic. Mecca does not exist. Makkah does. Thanks.

omg I was saying the taraweeh prayers a while ago and u know the way there’s usually a pic of Khaana Kaaba on the jaaye namaaz? I was looking at it and in the middle of my prayer I thought for a split second “dude, this is so outdated! Where’s the clock tower?” :omg:

Well, brainy things from Saudis would have been better transportation system .... Jaddah -- Makkah -- Madinah.

Despite all the criticism on people criticizing this thing, I'll criticize it too. I, for one, do not feel good with towering structures overlooking Haram. I just doesn't feel right. Maybe its just me.

I feel proud when they show on National Geographic or Discovery channel , how in the Middle East those amazing new architectural marvels are being built and how they do it.
This shows Muslims in whole new positive perspective.
Like Muslims are not all about demolition , terror and suicide bombings. If they are let to live in peace they can achieve big and build big instead of destroying things.

This is the image i took while i was there last wednesday. As you can see, a lot of work is yet to be done plus the pole/minaar is also to be placed at the top. Only this clock you see (this one faces Kaabah) has been completed. A second clock on the other side of the tower is halfway there.

Oddly, when you are close to the building, it does not look as tall as it actually is. Only when you are a few kilometres away you realize how tall it really is!
