Meat Biryani?

One of my moroccan friends has been harassing me for a biryani recipe all week long, and today when I finally gave her the recipe, she told me nooooo the one that her neighbor who moved back to Pakistan made for her and was out of this world yummy had meat, tomatoes, and peppers in it. I had no idea that biryani has a meat version of it.. Ive only ever had the chicken kind nor did I know that biryani has peppers in it.

So… anyone know of a good meat biryani recipe? I kinda need it like ASAP cuz this lady wants to make the stuff on Saturday for a late Eid party shes hosting.

Gracias

PS i dunno what kinda meat… she didnt specificy

Re: Meat Biryani?

Do you mean beef/mutton when you wrote meat?

All three of us siblings don't ear beef/mutton at all so my mom has no choice but to make chicken biryaani...But she always says that beef biryani tastes 100% times better than chicken version of it...I think it's the red meat that makes it more flavorful, eh? And also the texture of it...

And what kind of peppers you're asking about? My mom always puts green chili peppers in biryani...Sometimes, right in its salan part of it or, the other times, on top of every meat layer when you are layering rice and salan part..

Re: Meat Biryani?

Biryani does not have a copyright. Different people make it different ways. I happen to make both chicken and lamb biryani the same exact way, with no vegetables in them like peppers, aloo etc. And these days its so easy to make biryani, just make a regular salan with lots and lots of masala and use one of the spice mixes. Also add lemon juice and aloo bukharay to it if you like khatta. Add lots of chopped pudina to the salan as well.

Now par boil the rice and layer it with the salan mix. I usually do a rice, salan, rice, salan and then rice on top. Then i sprinkle some milk+kewra+zaafran mix (zaafran only for special occasions :D ). Cover very very tightly with foil and bake at 350 degrees for an hour-hour and a half till the rice is well done and there is no extra shorba, water in the biryani.

Re: Meat Biryani?

Yeah wishkamar im not a big fan of beef/mutton either. Hardly ever come close to the stuff only absolutely necessary.

The peppers im talking about are the green bell peppers (aka capsicums).

I asked her which meat she wants and she said preferably beef or lamb. I think ill try what Ira said. If someone does happen to have another recipe, please do post.
