Myvoice.. your comments seems quite myopic (ref: "terrorist attacks on our soil"). I don't think US policy is limited to US soil, else it will be all too simple. US looks to protects its spheres of influence all over the world. The convass is much bigger than 50 states. And that makes it all the more problematic to define what is success.

It’s a never ending war. The war between good and evil has been ongoing since man was created. Every victory in an individual battle is a milestone. The war will not always be waged with military troops. A long term measure of success is how long a time passes between the necessity for the commitment of our military troops. Another measure of success is how few and far between are terrorist attacks on our soil.

As long as we remain free and do not cower in fear in our homes against the enemy, we are winning. I don’t think that is wildly chasing the goose.

You speaking from a Muslim fundamentalist perspective?

It really is fascinating when one can step back and be completely neutral in their evaluation of people. (Like me, of course).

Did you ever think that they might perceive you as being the one having the dogmatic agenda that they don’t want influencing policy? They think your pro-gay agenda is divisive and intolerant and you see their pro-marriage agenda as being divisive and intolerant. Neither of you wants the other’s agenda influencing policy. It’s all perspective my friend.

Your supposed ‘neutrality’ because you are a secular conservative makes it even harder to stomcah than from a fundamentalist conservative. At least they have scripture to explain their intolerant and smug view.

My “pro gay agenda” is a piece of the larger “equal rights agenda” and is the antithesis of the dogmatic, fundamentalist movement and the antithesis of intolerance, s it’s BS to compare the two. When talking about public policy, one is tolerant the other isn’t. A ‘pro-gay agenda’ does not contradict a ‘pro marriage agenda’ so it’s hardly a matter of tolerance.

Faisal, WHen I was a management consultant as a wee lad we talked in terms of milestones and methodologies...now that I am a banker I think in terms of IRR, NPV and pursuant to prospectus. Cut their balls off and you will see tremendous returns, takes care of their financial indicators, remove scripture from policy, i.e. the revised propectus and people wil buy the stock.

When we can describe political Islam as Practical, Compromising, Tolerant, Constructive, Open and Just, we will have defeated corrosive fundmentalism.

The same is true of Fudamental Judiasm, and Fundamental Christianity. There is a wide difference between being principaled and being hostile.

I have a problem with Fundamentalist Secularists...especially considering their idealogy is one which caused the greatest amount of death in history. I find them uncompromising, intolerant and their hatred of organised religion makes them blind to their own flaws...
