meanings of Independence

Independence on August 14, 1947 was not merely a reward for the long struggle of the Muslims of united India, it was also a responsibility that honor of being free would be jealously protected, rights of millions of people who stood behind their leaders would be guaranteed, blood of the thousands of innocent people who lost their lives would be honored, a political system that will acknowledge the desires of the masses would be enacted serving as a foundation for politically and financially self reliant state.

How a country of 170 million people, abundant in natural resources, blessed with very intelligent, industrious and competent inhabitants be so low among other nations when compared for industrial development, social sector initiatives, healthcare, education, political system and rule of law.

Unfortunately, we are no where near in establishing a state perceived by Quaid-e-Azam. What we represent today is a country virtually in civil war, internally very week, with a maimed political system and completely broken system of social justice, slave to international players, and a cesspool of international conspiracies. Politically we are considered a failed state by many.

How Iqbal’s philosophy of ego “Khudi” can be translated as an inspiration not just for common people of Pakistan but for the ruling oligarchy, why don’t we understand that self reliance is philosophy of true and real independence.

To a certain extent I believe the "khudi" philosophy has been the downfall of Pakistan. It is often transmuted to a state of "khudprasti" especially amongst the elite of Pakistan.

There are attempts to connect with people in Pakistan by the muscians and intellectuals, but it all comes down to a nation that is hell bent on running the materialsm race and using wealth to break the class barrier, but once doing so becomes part of the very oppressive regime that it was fighting to break free of in the first place.

Pakistani's seem to follow the philosophy "Oppress or be oppressed"

The philosophy was incomplete. Okay so what that "Ye mera Pakistan hai" ??? It should then follow that since I am claiming the country then I should take and assume responsibilty for it. This means to be a servant for the country.

For some reason we think leadership means royal licence to rule and be obeyed, but really leadership is the greatest responsibility a single person is answerable to a whole nation. Not the whole nation is answerable to him/her. It does not work like that.

We see rubbish outside our homes in Pakistan and we ignore it ... it is our problem but we expect others to deal with it or we don't even care sometimes. Islam is a big reason for the current downfall of Pakistan, not because it allegedly promotes any such attitude but rather because Muslims are often halfway hogs who stand between two ideologies, excelling in neither.

Consider gambling as a mark of materialism and du'a as a mark of spiritual faith. In the West where there is limited faith and secularised beliefs gambling is a problem but it is tamed. It is because people in the West are expert capitalists and only gamble away enough to be able to survive without it, in general this is the case.

Muslims on the other hand do not gamble because it is haram and we instead raise our hands for du'a and say that Allah (SWT) can provide anything.

The halfway hogs on the otherhand can put up to their whole monthly incomes on bets because they are not as concerned for parting with their wealth, but are more eager to gain from the chance that something may hit. They will place bets and perform du'a to win. When a nation begins to justify it transgressions by skirting around the God can provide anything mentality then we get a country like Pakistan a Halfway House. We neither implement Islam nor Secular Democracy and that is why we are where we are ...

Notice as India become more secular it gains greater econo-political prowess.

No siree ... there is no independence just interdependence and the sooner we realise that we can begin to gain. The starting block is to form agreements through the OIC.
