Peace KKF

 … for 1) Agar aakhir mein harkat nahein phir doosre meem par tashdeed ka koi faida nahein hai … kyun hai aesa?

Re: Meaning of Today's Urdu Word...Nov. 10, 2011

Not sure but:

Samm (meem per tashdeed) ke sath: Poison (Zehr) jaise Samm e qatil matlab Zehr e qatil

Summ (seen per pesh) : Hoof ( Janwar ka Khur)

:hat:

Lekin KKF, iss ka istamaal bhi to bata dejiye, taake padhne walon ke zehn o zaban per ajae.

Istamaal se mujhe yaad aya, ek dafa ek office colleague ne kaha ke ‘Shadiye baad az marg’ urdu adab main do jagah istamall hua hai ek ‘Toseef ka khwab’ aur dosra ‘Samandar ka dil’. Paas main bethe hue English medium colleagues ki yeh sunn kar hansi chhoot gai. wo sab uss se poochne lage ke ye ‘shadiye baad az marg’ hota kia hai. English main usse kia kehte hain.

usage of “SAMM” سمؔ]:****

the best usage that i can find is indeed in the form of two ash’aar [she’rii Hawaalaajaat] and that too from 'allaamah Iqbal, one of the ultimate authority on Urdu language:
**
**

**

usage of the word “SUM” سمُ]:**

is lafz ke iste’maal kaa mujeh koii she’rii Hawaalah nahiiN mil sakaa is liye majbooran nasrii iste’maal pe iktifaa kartaa huN:

**“zamaana-e-maazii o Haal meN ‘sum-e-buz’ [goat feet] kaa saalan [bakrii ke siri paaye] tawaanaaii-e-ustoKhowaaN ke liye soodmand tasavvur kiyaa jaataa thaa aur kiyaa jaataa hai”

Thanks KKF. Can you please explain the meaning of Iqbal’s poetry above, especially the words Bood, Adam, Girv-e-Ajam (Ajam is non-Arab but Girv?).

For Bood I know Bood o Baash, Adam is probably non-existence. Istarah Meri Bood hum nafas e adam ka matlab hua (mera koi thikana nahin ya mere wajood ki koi haisiyat nahin).
