**thank you for a very informative post. they are Rajasthani Banjaras in India…women wearing ascending sizes of colorful bangles from wrist all the way up to mid arms past elbows while men wore huge turbans and smarted huge mustaches lol

yes, they have hard time adjusting to the life in the cities and thus prefer their own life styles.

i’ve seen them around since my childhood. they used to pass by our city and camped/village and used to camp on the outskirts for a few months at a time and then they would move on to another place. their caravan used to be self sufficient with animals in tow.

they used to do iron-smith works…made low tech farming equipments, sharpened knives, make cots etc. i remember once people turned against them and drove them out because they were involved in night time home invasions. they were supposed to be peaceful people but i guess bad economic conditions forced them to get involved in criminal activities.

i still love to see them around.** **i remember sneaking to their campsites at night and watching them sing on ek-tara and dance around bonfires. it was quite interesting to watch.
**
there was a movie made on their life style..the name of that movie is “Caravan”.
