someone wrote in another thread that it is religion that explains the purpose of life to us human beings. i would like to know from believers (of any faith) what the purpose of our lives is. it’d better be convincing, all complete and without loopholes, or else i’m gonna make fun of you for believing in it. 
i will tell you when i have lived my life in its entirity, what its purpose was.

We are put here to propitiate the BASEBALL GODS. The BASEBALL GODS are worthy of our total respect and fear. If one does not live his life in awe of the BASEBALL GODS, they will smite you. Look at the signs - ever since the Red Sox sold Babe Ruth, they have yet to win a World Series - in 1986 the Red Sox had a chance though, and Bill Buckner let the ball go through his legs to let the Mets win. Yes, it was the work of The BASEBALL GODS. How else can you explain how the Yankees suddenly got so good in '96? George sold his soul to the BASEBALL GODS.
The BASEBALL GODS clearly have punished my Astros, for what I do not know. It doesn't matter though, for if I pray daily, maybe one day they may grace my Astros with a World Series victory, whereupon my life will have served its purpose - that I may have held even the slightest sway in what the BASEBALL GODS may do to my Astros.
Fear them. Pray to them. Live your life through them. the BASEBALL GODS. May they have mercy on me.

to me it is to live a peaceful life, searching for knowledge, helping others along the way and share our knowledge and experiences with others and then depart from the world and making it a little better due to our efforts during our lifetime.
I may be on the wrong track and it may be to kill as many people as you can before you die...hmmmm sorry just saw highlander: endgame.
But I truly feel that without going into details this is what everyone should be striving for (the first paragraph, not the second)

the meaning of life is to live happily and let others live happily. Offcourse our focus should be life after death and everything we do should be qurbatan-ilallah (means: to get close to Allah)
