Meal Ideas for kids?

Ok I am running out of things to offer my 1 year old daughter! What do you feed yours? and how many meals and snacks a day?

My 3 yrs old is a very picky eater.. he only eats 1. rice (in one form or the other), chicken nuggets and fries… that’s it!!! He may munch on apples, carrots, guavas and pears once in a while but not much. Any ideas on what else and how I can make him try new food?

Re: Meal Ideas for kids?

i sometimes get a small chicken n put sme oil in a pan wash the chicken n add it to oil, add a lil salt nt too much just 2 pinches, a pinch of chilli powder, half teaspoon of haldi, add 2 crushed cloves of garlic n some ginger n one onion chopped into big pieces, n lat it steam on low heat, wen u see tht chicken has let off water put heat up n dry the water n make sure the chicken is cooked thoroughly, bas, uske baad serve it with some mash potatoe n baby carrots mushed up for bby n normal fr elder one. You can cut up the botiyan to required size so bby cn eat them or just mush them up fr her :)

another one
fry one onion add sme peas n garam masala n salt to taste n make sme pulao with some plain yoghurt, kids usually luv rice, u can add bits of chicken nuggets or fishfingers or even sme steamed fish on to it

fruits- make a lil plate of grapes sliced in half with bits of banana n other fruits that are soft which r in season, n hold it on front of her she will pick n eat herslf

toast with boiled egg in it with a bit of mayonaise

:D hope tht helped a bit

Re: Meal Ideas for kids?

My little one (1 year old) doesnt want to be spoonfed anymore! So i have been giving her finger food like macaroni with keema and pasta sauce, kichri, chicken, etc. Basically she mostly has wht we are eating unless its too spicy then i make her something else. She does breakfast, lunch and/or dinner with us. For breakfast, she doesnt like toast at all, so its tricky in getting her to eat anything since she wont eat cereal from a spoon either. I either her dry cheerios, fruit and/or yogurt for breakfast. Snacks are also either fruit, cheerios or these baby rusks called mmm-mms i think. She isnt a big eater, most of the food goes on teh floor or she will suck on food and then throw it on the floor, but her ped says thats fine.

Just throw a bagel at them

How about cheese? and crackers maybe?
I like the idea of tuna pockets, the recipe was posted on GS a while back I think.
My three year old started eating carrots and cucumbers, with different veggie dips, and also after he saw me eating them
I dont know if that was even remotely helpful :hehe:
